Artist Statement:
These four drawings are my time capsule drawings. The names are as follows, left to right, top to bottom: Cropped self portrait, hallway in my house, important object I use everyday, and my hand in an interesting position. I used an HB graphite pencil to sketch all of these drawings. I think I used the element of line in all of these, because they are all obviously composed of lines. I think I also used the element of space, because all of the drawings go off of the edges, and aren't just floating.
I think I used the composition rule/technique of framing in the object drawing, because the window sill kind of frames the lamp, in a way. I think I used the composition rule/technique of leading line for the hand drawing, because my hand is leading to the little firework I added above it.
These projects are all a part of me, obvious the self portrait, but the lamp is what I create my art under, and do most of my homework under. My hand is what I use to do everyday tasks, and the hallway is how I get to my bedroom. That's how these pieces relate to me. If I could change/fix these pieces at all, I would get rid of my lips in my self portrait, and make them smaller, because they are way to big for my face in the drawing. I would also spend more time on the hallway drawing, and use a ruler to create it, rather than freehand it. I would also fix my fingers in the hand drawing, because they look a little wonky.
