Donate Life Project

Artist Statement:

This piece is a poster design for organ and tissue donations that I created using graphite, colored pencils, fine point marker and Sharpie. The lettering that I did is meant to look kind of like intestines, and the background is supposed to be veins, because both of those can be donated. This piece contains the element/principles of line, because the veins in the background; shape, because the letters are shaped; color, because there are different colors throughout; and pattern, because I think the way the veins are in the back make it seem like a pattern.

This piece contains the compositon rule/technique of soft focus because it looks slightly blurry where there's colored pencil. For this piece I originally was going to have a human body being cut into and the organs spell out organ and tissue donations, but obviously I simplified that.

This piece relates to my life because I plan on being an organ donor. I think this piece could be stroger, because there are some parts in the lettering that need better blending and shadows/highlights. I also think the background could have some more veins in certain spots.
