Artist Statement:
This photo is of my fish, Casper in his tank. I used my Canon camera with flash to take this photo. I was watching him, and noticed that the tank makes cool reflections, so I decided to take a photo of him. I think it turned out pretty cool. I used the elements/principles of line, because the plant and light rays; shape, because the plant and fish are shapes; color, because the plants have color; texture, because the plants and fish seem textured; movement, because Casper looks like he's on the move; and unity, because he seems at one with himself (not literally, because there is four of him).
I used the following composition rules/techniques: rule of thirds, because Casper and his plant on the farthest left are in the required places for that; framing, because I think the plant and its reflection kind of frame him; and leading lines, because his plant to the far left seems to lead up and be pointing to him. Originally, I planned on taking a photo of ice reflection, but I saw this photo oppurtunity instead.
This photo is of my fish, and he is important to me. If this photo could be any stronger, I would maybe edit out the flash's reflection. I would also crop out the black part on the right. This photo relates to my concentration, because it has a fish which is alive and natural.
