Beautiful Oops

Artist Statement:

The subject of this piece is a Canadian Goose, flying above a pine forest. To create this work, I used colored pencils for the goose's body, and water color pencils for it's neck and head. I used colored pencils to create the trees, and watercolors to create the river. I created a goose because the ink splotch on the paper looked like a goose neck, and I wanted to make it flying above a forest because I like forests, and I thought it would turn out good. In this piece, I used the element of color, because I used different shades of green to create the trees. I also used the element of texture, because the way the trees are, they create a texture. The way the trees are also shows the principle of design of pattern.

In this piece, I think I used the composition rule/technique of leading line, because the goose's neck kind of "points" to the river. Originally, I was going to create some type of bird, (this is before I thought of the goose) that had a black beak, because I saw a beak in the splot originally.

I love creating birds because I love the way they look, and how they come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. I also like going in the woods, and I think that pine trees are very beautiful, and they are fun to create. If I could fix something about this piece, I would fix the wings and make them more even. I would also darken the colors on the goose.
