Ceramics II

Ceramics II Reflection:

Overall, I feel like I was pretty successful in the first half of Ceramics II, but once COVID-19 hit us my motivation and drive to create slowly diminished. I liked my mask and my tiles, but after that, its a no... I went into this class wanting to create with clay, so once that was off the table I didn't have fun. There's just something about molding something with your hands and tools and being able to do whatever you want with it. I loved the different glaze options and being able to layer and manipulate it however. I learned a lot of different and new techniques like using plaster casts and filling them with clay and creating tiles.

The hardest thing when taking Ceramics II for me was finishing my work before it dried up. I always had a hard time, even when I covered it (how I thought) was properly. I learned my lesson, and started coming into class extra to finish pieces in time. It wasn't that big of a difficulty, but I overcame it!

My favorite project in Ceramics II was definetly the masks project, because I had never made something like this before. I liked making the releif and layering the mask on top of that, then building off of it. It was really fun creating exaggerated human features, and if I ever ended up finishing the mask, I would'vt put it up on my wall. My least favorite project to create was the movement project, because I didn't really have anything cool around my house to use, so it kind of just looked like a trash sculpture.
