Inclusion Design

Artist Statement:

This piece is aimed to represent all people with disabilities, and show how everyone is included despite their individual disabilaties. I tried to make mine like a poster showing that all people are equal no matter their disability. I used watercolor, ink pen, and graphite to create this piece. I chose to create it this way because I wanted to try using watercolor, and I liked the idea of putting the different icons on it. This piece contains the elements and principles of line, because the letters are made up of lines; color, because there is (obviously) a colorful background; and balance, because it seems to look balanced, although it isn't perfect.

I believe this piece contains the composition rule/technique of informal balance, because as said before, it seems to have a balanced look to it, although not formally. Originally I was going to do something with linoleum, but changed my mind obviously. I also changed some things after this photo was taken. I made the letters bolder and fixed some watercolor.

This piece shows that all are equal. It relates to me, because I have family with disabilities, and I know that all aren't always treated how they deserve. If this piece could be any stronger, I would add more disability signs, because there are more than just these.
