Leading Lines

Artist Statement:

The subject of this image is a turkey feather, and the setting is in my room. I used my Canon camera to take this photo, and my wall to prop the feather up. I chose to create this image because I liked the many different lines included with it. I used the elements/principles of line, because as said before there are many different lines; shape, because there are different shapes that make up the feather; color, because there are light and dark brown tones on it; texture, because the feather has a shiney smooth look; and pattern, because the stripey look makes it patterned.

I used the composition rules/techniques of leading line, because the rachis of the feather calls attention to the other lines contained in the photo; and informal balance, because the photo isn't truely balanced, but it gives off the feel that it is. Originally, I was going to take the photo outside, of some trees, but obviously changed my mind. This photo also is like an organic form/texture, because it is a natural feather found outside.

This project relates to my life, because I found the feather in my woods. I think that if I had the chance to fix something about this picture, I would add more shadows and make it seem even more textured. This photo relates to my concentration, because it is of the organic texture it has. It also is an organic form, since it is literally a feather.
