Artist Statement:

The subject of this photo is a pineapple and the setting is on my desk in my room. I used a plastic container as a stand for my Canon camera when I took this photo. I chose to take this photo because I like the texture the pineapple has and it's one of my favorite fruits as well. In this photo there are the elements and principles of shape, because the pineapple is made up of different shapes; color, because it has yellows, browns, and greens; texture, because the spines and spikes give it that look/feel; balance, because it has a balanced feel to it; emphasis, because since it's just the pineapple alone I think it just makes it pop; pattern, because the pineapple itself has different patterns; and unity, because the pineapple seems very satisfying to me.

This photo contains the composition rules/techniques of informal balance, because it seems balanced, though it isn't perfectly; sharp focus, because it is very focused; and low key lighting, because it's darker and more shadowy lighting. Originally, I was going to cut up some fruit for this assignment, but changed m mind because I like how the outside of pineapple itself looked really cool and interesting.

This image is of one of my favorite fruits, and I love it. If I could change something about this image I would make the background black or white, rather than grey, because I think it would look better like that. This photo relates to my concentration because it is of a pineapple, which is a natural form.
