Artist Statement:
This photo is of Mrs. Kurry's door in the school. I used my iPhone 7 to take this photo. I took this photo because I was walking down the hallway and saw the three primarily colored stickers. It seemed kind of perfect to me because it was exactly what I was looking for. This photo has the following elements/principles: line, because the classroom in the background and the lines on the stickers; shape, because the stickers are all shapes; color, because I used the stickers' colors selectivly; value, because the black and white parts are full of different shades of value; and pattern, because the stickers create a patterny look.
This photo contains the following composition rules/techniques: informal balance, because it seems like it's balanced even though it actually isn't accuratly; soft focus, because the background is slighty blurry; and grouping, because the stickers are grouped together. Originally, I was going to do something with paint, but I didn't have time for that. I had a hard time taking this photo in the right position.
I took this photo because I liked the idea of the stickers just placed countlessly. It relates to my life because I like the stickers that are colored. If this image could be any stronger, I would fix the Boston U sticker because the way I edited it was kind of weird and messy.
