Time Capsule Drawings

Artist Statement:

The setting of these pieces, is in my bedroom. To create this piece I used graphite pencils and my fingers to blend. I chose to create these specific pieces, because I was assigned to do them, but for two of them, I was allowed to pick what I was drawing, so I decided to draw a makeup brush, and my hand holding a jar, and I picked those because the seemed like fun items to draw.

The composition rules and techniques I used for these pieces, were line, shape, and value. I used value to shade some parts on my self-portrait and drawing, line to draw the walls of the corner of my bedroom, and shape to draw my face, bedroom, makeup brush, and hand. I was originally going to draw a picture of my hand holding the makeup brush and a picture of the jar, but then decided to swap those and do it opposite.

I don't really have a story behind my artwork, since it was assigned to me. Though my project does relate to my life, because I drew a self portrait, so that is me. Also, I drew a picture of my room, which is where I live. I believe that my artwork could be stronger if I did more shading and took more time on my carpet in my room or on the makeup brush.
