Creative Color Design

Artist Statement:

This piece is supposed to be a zoomed in rose, but it is mildly abstract, since roses are more circular, and aren't multiple colors. For this piece, I used graphite pencil to sketch the shapes, acrylic paints to paint the whole thing, and I also used an oil paint pen to outline the shapes. I created this piece because I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that no one else would have this idea, and it would be unique. This piece contains elements and principles of art, such as shape, since it is made fully of shapes. It also contains color, because it has many shades and tints. Lastly, it contains pattern, since it is a pattern.

Before choosing to make this specific piece, I had a couple of other ideas in mind, one being a piece containing only large triangles. It also took me quite a long time to get the shapes on my page correctly, and how I wanted them.

This project relates to my life, because my grandmother adored roses, and they always remind me of her. If this piece could be any stronger, I would add more black splotches randomly, since I feel there isn't enough of them.
