A Portal?

MARCH 28, 2019

For this image I really had no idea what I was going to do for a picture at first! I brought my camera outside and was just kind of fooling around with the shutter speed, seeing if I could capture the leaves floating on the ground in a blurry-cool way. However, that wasn't really working. I wanted to figure out a way to combine two landscapes, or two aspects of the same landscape, at once, but wasn't sure what to do. That was when I thought to use a mirror to take a picture of my yard one way, and have the mirror reflecting a different part of the yard. However, this turned out not as well as I thought it would, because my mirror had a big purple frame around it, and just overall didn't look very well-execute or graceful. I had the idea to bury the mirror in the snow and reflect the sky, but it kind of just looked like ice. Then, I noticed that I could see the tree line when the mirror was buried in the snow, and took a whole bunch of pictures focusing on the tree line in the reflection of the mirror that I had buried among the snow and leaves! I like this picture because I think at first it is a little confusing, but I really liked the aspect of combining both the ground and the sky to create one image! It kind of looks like a portal into another world!
