Covid Guidelines
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we are still continuing our COVID-smart measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses such as the flu in our school community.
Our COVID-smart measures
While the community continues to live with COVID-19, NSW Health has advised that the unpredictable nature of the virus will continue to present a health risk to the community, especially during the winter months while other respiratory illness circulate. As a response, our school will continue to operate with our baseline COVID-smart measures in place throughout this term to minimise transmission while prioritising student and staff wellbeing. These includes a combination of layered safety measures such as:
Staying home if unwell and test for COVID-19 if showing any symptoms
. Students and staff are advised to stay home until they are well, even if they have a negative COVID-19 test result. Students can be supported to learn remotely if they are well enough.
Boosted day cleaning of high-touch areas in our schools.
Strongly encouraging masks to be worn by all students, staff and visitors, particularly when indoors or outdoors when physical distancing is difficult to maintain, and if exposed to COVID-1
Strongly encouraging up-to-date vaccinations for our students and staff, including COVID-19 booster shots and flu vaccinations for anyone eligible.
Maintaining natural ventilation with windows and doors open whenever possible, including when cooling/heating systems are in use.
Continuing to provide RATs and other hygiene products to our school community, free of charge.
Our school may be directed to temporarily reintroduce additional COVID-19 measures, including mandatory mask-wearing and postponing events and gatherings, or directing a cohort to learn from home for a short period to minimise transmission risks. The NSW Department of Education’s COVID-19 Health, Safety and Staff Wellbeing team will continue to lead this work when it is needed.
For further information about the COVID-smart measures in place this term refer to the department’s COVID-smart measures at school on our Advice for families page
I would also like to take this opportunity to share Fire and Rescue NSW’s Winter fire safety checklist (PDF 864.8KB). Please download the checklist and follow the instructions listed to help keep our households safe and warm during the colder months.
On behalf of our school, I want to thank you for your support in helping to keep our students, staff and community safe.
Moodamoot (farewell)

Monday 24 July, 11 Mulwala Public School students went to Murrumbateman for the Creative Arts Camp. The kids who went are Brodie, Dious, Tommy, Layla, Nancy, Ciara, Milla, Zali, Remi, Nevaeh and myself. Some of the activities were circus, drama, dance, filmmaking and creative and visual arts. I did circus and drama.
In circus we got to walk a tightrope forwards and backwards. It was fun and scary at the same time. We also got to do really fun tricks with the hula hoops. I learnt a trick where the hoop kind of runs up your body. I loved doing the hoops. I learnt a lot of tricks with hoops.

Last Monday 11 students from Mulwala went to Murrumbateman to participate in the Small Schools Creative Arts Camp. There were many different activities: filmmaking, circus, dance, creative and visual arts and drama.
My favourite activities were drama and creative and visual arts. My favourite part of creative and visual arts was grouting. We made a coaster and we used grout to seal the gaps.
My favourite part of drama was all of it. This year's theme was elements. In drama we made a play called War of the Elements.
There were three parts of the play. There was chorus, aliens and air, fire water and earth's monsters.
One of my favourite parts of the concert was circus. My favourite bit was slinkies and hoops.
At the start of the show we did a dance to the song Supernova. At the end of the show we did drumming with buckets and drumsticks. We did the drumming to the song Thunderstruck. It was so much fun. I was part of chorus.

NAIDOC week was a blast. We got cake and had our faces painted. There was also a sausage sizzle, a playground and we had a short walk to Kennedy Park. We got to witness some ceremonies and we got to see some people from the Stolen Generations. Overall it was an amazing experience to witness all this culture and so many people being there to see it all it just made everybody's day that little bit better.
