Dear parents and carers
Combined Schools Signing Choir
Congratulations to the nine students who represented our school at the Combined Schools Signing Choir at the Sydney Town Hall last night. The students were committed to rehearsing many hours in their own time. A big thank you to the parents and Mrs Rosmulder who provided support for this wonderful opportunity.
NSW PSSA State Athletics
We wish Nancy good luck at the NSW PSSA State Athletics championships in Sydney on 19 and 20 October. Nancy will be competing in the Junior girls' discus, long jump and high jump. This is an amazing achievement.
End of Term 3
Friday 23 September is the last day of Term 3. This is a normal school day for NSW schools.
Term 4 commences on Monday 10 October for both staff and students.
Bringing belongings to school
We discourage students from bringing any belonging from home to school. This prevents students from becoming upset because they have lost something, or it gets broken. We have had some students trading their toys. The school has plenty of various equipment for the students to play with during their breaks.
Parent Parking
I encourage all parents to follow the parking rules around the school, to keep all students safe. There are an increasing number of parents parking in the No Stopping zone in Erne St.
Lost Property
There are hundreds of dollars worth of lost property belonging to students at school, which is unnamed. This consists of clothing and drink bottles. Please ask your child to look in the lost property baskets to retrieve their items.
Updated Covid Information
The recent announcement to the changes in how schools use RATs as a surveillance measure against COVID-19 means that students and staff will only need to test if they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms. If you require more RAT kits please contact the school.
Our school will continue to ensure our core COVID-smart layers are in place, including vaccinations, physical distancing where possible, maximised fresh air flow through natural ventilation, continued good hand hygiene practices and enhanced cleaning.
If a student or staff member receives a positive RAT result, they need to:
record the positive RAT result through the Service NSW website or Service NSW app and please include the name of your child’s school when prompted
notify the school of the positive RAT or PCR result as soon as possible
follow NSW Health advice to isolate for 7 days.
Registering your child’s positive RAT with Service NSW is a requirement of the Public Health Order and helps NSW Health track COVID-19 in schools and address any public health issues early on if required.
Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the school.
Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
If symptoms continue, they should stay at home and take another RAT in 24 hours or have a PCR test.
If the second RAT or initial PCR test result is negative and they are displaying no symptoms OR they are diagnosed as another condition such as hayfever, the student or staff member can return to school.
In NSW, positive COVID-19 cases are provided a Medical Clearance Notice after 7 days and allowed to leave self-isolation as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
For further information refer to the NSW Government’s Rapid antigen testing fact sheetExternal link.
The announcement to ease the isolation requirements for close contacts was made on 20 April 2022. This will enable students and staff who are close contacts and have no symptoms to continue to attend school if they follow guidelines agreed with NSW Health.
Note that staff and students who have had confirmed COVID-19 in the last 12 weeks do not have to comply with the following guidelines if they become a household or close contact and are not required to self-isolate or test unless they develop new COVID-19 symptoms.
Close contacts attending school will need to adhere to the following in addition to the NSW Health guidelines
They must notify the school and/or early childhood education (ECE) service provider (including their outside of school hours care provider) if they are intending to return under this provision.
They should conduct a daily RAT and return a negative result each morning before attending school for 5 school days.
They (if in a secondary school setting) must wear a mask indoors except when eating or exercising. Primary school students are recommended to wear a mask indoors (except when eating or exercising).
No student or staff member identified as a close contact will be permitted to participate in overnight excursions, including school camps.
Thank you again for your continued support during this school term.
Covid Safe Guidelines
All staff, volunteers and providers are fully vaccinated
Staff are no longer required to wear masks

Yesterday we had our Malaysian day. We split up in to two groups, one of those groups were doing cooking and the other group was doing sport. The CWA women came to see what we were doing. We cut up some tropical fruits, we made some yummy choc chip pancakes, we made a laska which has noodles and chicken in it. There was also some fried rice with egg. It was really fun. By Mackenzie
Yesterday we had Malaysian day. We were all put in two groups. The two groups swapped time to time but my group did sport first but unfortunately we did not play Malaysian games. These are some of the game we played: every potes i partner, tag and netball. By Layla
Yesterday most of the school enjoyed playing fun games and cooking but I want to talk about our slide shows where we talked about where Malaysia is, famous landmarks in Malaysia, Malaysia's flag, population of Malaysia, the language of Malaysia. We all did our own slide. We had to find information on Google and write that information down on the Google slide and once you are finished you would hopefully have 10 pages. By Nancy
In music and dance yesterday we learned traditional Malaysian dances. One was with traditional music and dance and the other was with more modern music and still the traditional dancing. By Caitlin
Yesterday 9 students travelled to Sydney to perform in the 2022 Primary Proms Combined Schools Signing Choir.
The students joined 50 other signers, which included deaf and hard of hearing students, interpreters and signing conductors, for a full day of rehearsals. The students then perormed I was Here and Evening Star to a sell out concert in Sydney Town Hall.
A huge thank you to the familes of the students for their support and getting them to Sydney.
