Dear parents and carers
Welcome to the 2024 school year. It was wonderful to see the happy students return to school.
New students and staff
We would like to welcome the following new Mulwala jarmbies to our school:

We would also like to welcome Mrs Melanie Schols who has joined our staff as a casual teacher.
Crossing Supervisor
Mrs DePaoli has resigned from her position of the Crossing Supervisor. Therefore no crossing supervisor is availailable until further notice. Transport for NSW is currently advertising the position.
Please remind your children of the following safety rules:
• Wherever possible, cross the road at a designated pedestrian crossing facility
• Stop! Look! Listen! Think! when crossing the road.
• Take care whenever you cross.
• Don’t run across the road.
Sport Captains elections
All Year 5 students are invited to nominate themselves as a 2024 Sport Captain. Elections will take place on Monday 12 February. The students will present a short speech prior to the student election.
School Lunches
School lunches will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday.
Learn to swim
Stroke correction and swimming lessons will occur tomorrow and Monday- Thursday next week for all students in Years 2-6. Please ensure your child brings their swimmers, rashie, towel and thongs to school each day in a bag.
Swimming Carnival
Our annual swimming carnival will be held on Friday 9 February. All students who are 8 and above in 2024 are expected to attend. There will be competitive events as well as 25 m and novelty events.

Water Fun Day
Students who are not attending the swimming carnival will participate in some water fun activities at school. They will need to bring

Meet and Greet
Famiies are invited to meet the staff at our Meet and Greet session on Wednesday 21 February commencing at 5:30 pm. Dinner wil be provided by the P&C.
Thrive Before and After School Care
Thrive before and after school care is now taking bookings for Term 1.
Before School Care: 7 am - 9 am
After School Care: 3 pm - 6 pm

Labeled items
Please ensure your child's items, in particular, hat, jumper and drink bottle, are labeled.
Bringing toys to school
The school has ample equipment and toys for students to play with at recess and lunch times. We ask that students do not bring toys and other items from home.
Bring your wheels to school
The students are invited to bring their wheels (bikes, scooters, skateboards etc) to school each Thursday to ride at lunchtime. The students must have a properly fitting helmet. This will begin on Thursday 15 February.
Voluntary School Contributions
Parents are invited to make a voluntary contribution of $40 which goes towards all classroom supplies..

Term one ends on Friday 12 April.

Congratulatins to Finn and Nevaeh for receiving Federation's Council's Student Achievement Awards for being active citizens.
The Year 6 students are very proud to be wearing the Year 6 t-shirts, kindly donated to them by the P&C.
Assemblies are usually held each fortnight on Fridays at 2:00 pm. All parents, family members and friends are invited to attend.
Each student will have an opportunity to present the assembly throughout the year. They will also be provided to present the class report at a number of assemblies.
