This term we have been exploring natural and man made fibres used to create various artwork. We focused our studies on the artwork of Aboriginal artists from Northern Australia, including weaved mats and baskets. Goonie students improved their pencil use and scissor skills by creating weaved nargoons (koalas). Thurgoon students practiced measuring and cutting lengths of wool as well as tying knots to create their Aboriginal mats. Nungara students improved their knot tying and weaving skills to create weaved baskets. Drop in and see some of our wonderful work in the school foyer.

The tennis knockout was on Thursday the 9th of February. Tommy, Nat, Zali and Finn went to represent Mulwala Public School. It was fun and hard. We tried our best but we didn't make it. In the doubles it was Finn and Tommy were one team and Nat and Zali were another team. And Howlong made it on and it was a lot of fun. Howlong had 5 courts. They were covered in sand. Some of the strategies we used were calling for the ball, making them run, keeping your eye on the ball, hitting wide. The kids from Howlong were very determined to make it.

In mixed doubles Nat and Tommy had so much fun we did good serves and had the best game. Nat, Finn ,Zali and Tommy meet new really nice people and had a great day. In my singles I had lots of fun playing a guy called Jayden. In my boys doubles Finn and I had lots of fun. Mrs Linehan took us to the Howlong tennis courts and played Howlong. And in the car on the way back to school we had so much fun we couldn’t stop ourselves laughing. We definitely had a good day.

On Tuesday the 14th of March Zali and Scarlett went to basketball trials in Albury. It was very fun. Zali and Scarlett made new friends. They were put in a team with 4 other girls from 2 different schools. They had a team of 6 and also played 4 games throughout the day. The points were not scored but we worked really well together although we never played together. One of the girls on their team made it to the next part where you had to play more games. They hope she did well. It was a lot of fun and all of the girls were all hot after playing 4 games. It was hot in the stadium. There were probably 60 girls and 60 boys trying out for basketball .
