School Captain Elections
The Year 5 students will present their school captain speeches on Friday at 2 pm. Families and friends are welcome to attend. We wish them all the best of luck.
School Spectacular
Nevaeh will be participating in the upcoming Schools Spectacular, a prestigious cultural event that showcases the incredible talents of students from public schools across New South Wales. With students from Kindergarten to Year 12 participating, this event promises to be an extraordinary display of dance, music, and creativity. This world-class production is one of the largest annual events of its kind in Australia. It offers our students a unique opportunity to perform on a grand stage and to connect with their peers from across the state. Nevaeh will be performing in the choir. The event will be televised, with the date yet to be announced.
Elevate the Stage
Nevaeh, Zali, and Harper will be performing in the upcoming Elevate the Stage concert at ICC Sydney on Sunday, 1 December 2024. They are among only 17 performers chosen from across the state to represent their schools in the Auslan signing choir in this remarkable event.
Elevate the Stage is a unique concert celebrating unity, acceptance, and diversity, timed to coincide with the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). This year’s event will showcase an extraordinary lineup of top Australian artists, both with and without disabilities,Â
The concert will feature a variety of performances, including opera, dance, and comedy, with hosts Ryley Batt—a celebrated Paralympic athlete—and journalist Nas Campanella guiding us through the festivities. The Auslan signing choir will perform along side Iva Davies, from Icehouse, as he sings 'Great Southern Land.'
As we approach IDPwD, I encourage our school community to reflect on the importance of inclusivity and support for all individuals. We can all contribute to creating a diverse and accepting environment in our community.
Carols by the Lake
All students are invited to represent the school at the annual Carols by the Lake at the Mulwala Water Ski Club on Friday evening. Students are asked to meet Mrs Pinn, Mr Boyer and Miss Sargeant on the lawns at 5:45 pm. They are to be collected by their parents immediately following the performance.
Students need to wear their school uniform, with something Christmassy, ie tinsel, Christmas hat etc.
Class and staff for 2025
As we look ahead to the 2025 school year, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge some significant changes within our staff. It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Mrs. Moore, who has been a well respected educator at Mulwala PS since 2010. Mrs. Moore has dedicated over a decade to providing an excellent education to our students, inspiring countless young minds with her passion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to their success. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and the positive impact she has made on our school and its community. We wish her all the best in this new chapter of her life!
Additionally, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Miss Sargeant, who will be leaving us at the end of 2024. Throughout her time with us, Miss Sargeant has demonstrated an exceptional level of commitment and professionalism. Her dedication to fostering a love of learning and her ability to connect with students have been truly commendable. We appreciate her hard work, creativity, and the enthusiasm she has brought to our school.
As we bid farewell to these remarkable educators, we also look forward to welcoming new staff members who will continue to uphold our high standards of education and support for our students. Change can be both challenging and exciting, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our students and families.
Please join me in expressing our gratitude to Mrs Moore and Miss Sargeant for their years of service and the lasting legacies they leave behind. We wish them both all the best in their future endeavours.
Classes for 2025 are based on student numbers, resulting in Kindergarten/Year 1, Year 2/3, and Year 4/5/6 and support class (Bobinawarrah). The class teachers will be announced as soon as the staff is finalised.
Term dates for 2025
I am pleased to inform you that we have received approval to align our school holidays with those of Victoria, starting in 2025. This decision was made to better support our families who have children attending schools across the border and who participate in extracurricular activities during the Victorian school holidays.
While we are excited about this alignment, I want to let you know that the exact starting dates for each term are still being determined. The differences in the number of teaching days between New South Wales and Victoria mean that we need to ensure we are meeting all mandated requirements for our students. We will finalise term dates as soon as possible, and we will communicate those to you as soon as they are available.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we make this transition. We believe that aligning our holiday schedule with Victoria will provide greater flexibility for our families and enhance the overall school experience for our students.
Learn to Swim Lessons
The school will be providing water safety and learn to swim lessons to those students who are unable to swim 25m confidently. The lessons will be held each afternoon from Monday 2 December until Friday 13 December.
Swimming carnival
The 2025 school swimming carnival will be held on Friday 7 Feburary at the Yarrawonga pool. Details will be sent out to parents before the end of the year.
COVID 19 Advice
Students and staff should stay home when sick. Students, staff and visitors should only attend school when feeling well and symptom-free. Follow NSW Health advice on Testing and what to do if you have COVID-19
Parents and carers of children with persistent or ongoing COVID-19 symptom should discuss these with their local health care professional. These symptoms may be related to other illnesses (such as allergies or hay fever) and benefit from treatment and management by a doctor.
From the start of 2024, rapid antigen tests (RAT) are no longer available free of charge to schools. NSW Health recommend Testing for COVID-19 if you have symptoms and are at higher risk of serious illness.
