On the 9th of February, Years 2-6 enjoyed going down to the public pool and competing in novelty events as well as 50-100m swims. The people who could not swim 50m went into either 25m races or the novelty events. As the kids were coming back for their events with a big smile on their faces we could tell that they had had fun. More of the older kids enjoyed competing in harder events like 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. One of the hardest ones was definitely the individual medley, which Nevaeh and Nancy competed in. We think one of our many highlights was when everyone enjoyed cheering on their house. The lovely P and C also provided sausages for $1. Thank you to the P and C for coming down, Corowa High School and Yarrawonga P-12 students came down to help timekeep for the events.
Good luck to Nancy, Zali, Poppy, Mia, Harper, Harley, Layla, Scarlett and Nevaeh. The relay team is Nancy, Layla, Scarlett and Nevaeh. Congratulations to those who have made it on and have an awesome time at the zone swimming carnival.

We went in a minibus all the way to the sale yards
There were a lot of bulls and cows. We saw a big machine that looked like a huge cotton candy machine and there were gates that could open and close with a click of a button
And then we got icy poles.
And we got back in the minibus and got parkes pies then we played memory tag for five minutes.
We went to a farm and everyone went into a tractor and one had a 360 turning seat and there was too dogs on dogs name was diesel and we forgot the other dogs name then we got back in the minibus and arrived back at school and went home.

When we got to the Yarrawonga lake we got sorted into our groups. My group was first to do CPR. It was lots of fun. We had to answer questions like how many compressions. There are 30 compressions and 2 breaths. It was hard to learn.
Then we learnt what to say when we call the Ambulances like where you are we also had to learn what the water signs ment. After we had to get our life jackets on and we got to jump off the deep end.
We had to pretend that we were on the Titanic and there was a driver and a DJ and then we had to jump in the water and then we had to huddle up to all the people and then someone would go away and then we would have to go and get her or him and then we get someone to go in the middle of the circle.
The next group we had to have a partner and we had to have a flotation device. My partner was Nancy. We had to rescue our partner with something that was floating. Our last group was bodyboarding.
It was very fun. We had races then we splash and made waves and the person at the start of the line would have to try and get through the waves. The bodybords are very slippery. It was fun to rescue our partner with the bodybords and of course it was a race to make it more fun. We had to have straight arms so the bodybord did not flip over.

In science, Stage 3 students are learning about Earth's place in the solar system. Students learnt that Earth and the other planets orbit around the sun in an ellipse. They worked in pairs to program the Spheros to move in an ellipse shape. Students have also been learning about Indigenous interpretations of the night sky. They learnt that Indigenous Australian people use the stars to navigate the land, and to know when emu's lay their eggs.
In maths, Cooyong 1 students are learning to arrange the digits in a number to create the smallest and largest possible number. Students drew five playing cards to create a five-digit number, which they rearranged. Students were then challenged to create the second smallest and second largest numbers.
Assemblies are held at school on alternate Fridays commencing at 2 pm. All students have a turn of presenting class reports, sharing learning and presenting the assembly. Everyone is invited to attend.
Lunch orders are available from Sweet and Sour Sisters Tuesday-Thursday.
