New Staff
This week we welcome Miss Zoe Urquhart to our teaching team. Miss Urquhart will be teaching the newly established support class, which will be named Bobinawarrah. Miss Urquhart is a former student of Mulwala Public School and is excited to be returning.
2024
The school is now taking enrolments for 2024 Kindergarten students. If you know anyone who would like a guided tour of the school, please ask them to contact the office. Our next parent information session is on Wednesday 9 August. This will be followed by a long transition program for the future jarmbies.
Construction
The construction of the boundary safety fence has commenced. The fence will ensure all students are safe at school and that there are no univited people on the school grounds.
Musica Viva
Next Tuesday the students will have the opportunity to listen to live musicians when the ensemble Colours of Home visit our school. The students have been participating in musical activities related to colour and mood to prepare for the performance.
Colours of Home invites students into the vibrant world of oboist Celia Craig, who experiences Chromesthesia - where sound evokes an involuntary experience of colour. Celia joins forces with guitarist Caspar Hawksley to deepen students’ understanding of music through colour and mood. This exciting combination features a rich musical palette inspired by landscapes and personal connections to place, giving students the tools to create music based on their own unique worldview.
Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking
Students in Years 2-6 will present their speech next Tuesday. Two students from Years 3-4 and Years 5-6 will be selected to compete in the local final at Howlong PS on Thursday 8 June.
Parent-teacher interviews
Parents are invited to contact the class teacher at any time during the year to organsie a parent-teacher interview. In addiiton, teachers may contact parents and request an interview.
SRC and sports captain initiatives
The SRC students and sports captains have instigated 2 great initiatives at school:
Bring Your Wheels to School Day
each Thursday the students are invited to bring their bikes, scooters, roller blades etc (including all safety equipment) to ride at lunchtime. The students create a course for the riders. It is wonderful to see so many participants each week.
Sport time lunch games
each Friday the sports captains will organise a game or sport for any students to participate in during lunchtime.
Moodamoot (farewell)

Hello everyone!
My name is Miss Urquhart and I am super excited to be back at Mulwala Public School as a teacher. A lot has changed since I was a student here, but many things are still the same, which is helpful.
A little about myself... I live in Mulwala with my partner and have a cat called Smokey. Outside of school, I love going fishing and camping with my friends. This year is a big year for me because as well as starting a new job, I am also planning my wedding!
I can't wait to get to know all the students and their families so please come up and introduce yourself to me. Looking forward to an exciting year.

Mulwala’s senior netball team played a fabulous game against the JerriBerriOs today at the local courts. Despite going down to the other team the girls showed great sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the game. They should be very proud of their effort. Thanks to Mrs Ferguson for umpiring and Mulwala Lions Football Netball Club for the use of the facilities.
On the 17 May the school went to the lake with their teddies and enjoyed a delightful lunch with the preschoolers. After we had our lunch, K -2 played on the playground while years 3-6 played Bluearth games. The Bluearth games we played were partner tag and fantastic Mr Fox.

On Friday 19 May we participated in the Walk Safely to School Day. There were three checkpoints where groups of children walked from to school. They were at the Mulwala Bakery, the Mulwala Canal and from the corner of Romney and Beams Streets Mulwala.
Mrs Pinn walked from the bakery , Mrs Rosmulder walked from Romney and Beams Street and Miss Sargeant from the canal.
Thank you so much to the P&C for providing a wonderful breakfast for the students when we all arrived.
We all had juice, pancakes, apples , watermelon and oranges.

On the 12 May we went to Altina Wildlife Park. On the way there, we stopped for a snack. When we got there we had a short snack then went into the mini zoo. We saw wonderful animals like red panda, lima, capuchin, yellow footed rock wallabies, Tazi devils, meerkats, crocodiles, alligators, wombats and many more.
Then we were taken around the zoo in carts pulled by utes in our jarmbie groups. Every animal you could think of was there. My favourite by far would have been the zebras. They’re so cute. Did you know they’re actually black with white stripes?
Then on the way home we had hot chips for lunch and went home.
Tommy.
Learning in our flexible maths groups is always a favourite with our students.
During our learning about 3D objects students played the game of 'What shape am I?'
Each student had a 3D object on their head and had to move around the room and ask questions and give clues about the 3D objects that were on their headbands. Younger students were paired with older students to support them in their writing or drawing of different 3D objects. For those with keen eyes there are also a small number of 2D shapes in the mix to revisit and refresh memories on prior learning.
