Harmony Day was celebrated last Thursday 21st March.
It is a day to recognise our country's cultural diversity and promote respect and inclusion for all.
Everyone was invited to wear orange on the day.
Students had the opportunity to participate in many craft activities for the day, and listened to a story called 'The Suitcase of Belonging'. It was about a young boy who had trouble making friends at school because he was 'different' and didn't know how to connect with his peers. Through encouragement and support, he was able to open up and share his culture and history with his classmates and make friends.
After lunch, students engaged with 'Amplify' music and listened to music from all different cultures and discussed how music can bring people together.
Thurgoon and Nungara students created a collaborative artwork that is currently displayed in the foyer - it is amazing and so colourful!
Thank you to everyone for enthusiastically participating in the activities during the day. Let's aim to make Harmony Day next year bigger and better!

On the 13 March Nancy, Scarlett, Milla, Remi, Zali and I went to Tocumwal for the Finley zone netball trials. There were around 25 girls there. We all got numbers on our legs and arms. Then they called everyone over to just say what positions we were playing and then people were put on the court. Most people played 2 to 3 games but some people played all of them. We played 5 minute halves and then we changed ends of the court and played another 5 minute half. Then they said that they would send our school a message that we made it onto the next level. Well done to Nancy, Zali, Scarlett and I for making it on the next level. The next level will be held on the 2 May in Narrandera. Good luck girls!!!
Scarlett
On Wednesday 13 March Remi, Layla, Milla, Nancy, Zali and Scarlett went to the Finley netball trials in Tocumwal. There were a lot of girls from different schools. We all played 2-3 5 minute half games. They were very nice and welcoming. We all had so much fun. Good job to Nancy, Layla, Zali and Scarlett who made it to the next level. They will have to go to Narrandera on the 2 May. So good luck to these girls.
On Tuesday 19 March Milla, Remi, Scarlett, Layla, Nancy and Zali went to Albury at the Lauren Jackson stadium to tryout for the Riverina basketball team. We had to play 4 x 20 minute games of basketball. We played as a team trying our hardest to make the Riverina team.
We all got special jerseys to play in. Nancy made it in the possible and probabilities. She had to play one more game so they could see their skills. They then picked 10 girls to play in the Riverina team. Congratulations to Nancy who made it on to the Riverina basketball team. She now goes to Newcastle on the 28 - 31 May.
Good Luck Nancy

On the 14, 15 and 16 March we went to Sydney by train to perform in the Pulse Alive 2024 concert It was a long 10 hours but it was fun. When we got off the train it was about 8:30pm.
We got in a mini bus and drove to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. To see them in the dark, lit up by lights. It was so pretty. We saw lots of bats flying over us.
When we got to the hotel it was around 10:00 pm. We got in our rooms and went to sleep.
The next morning we went to the Sydney Olympic Park and practised the routine with our favourite signing conductors Larry and Rhonda. We spent quite a few hours going over and over the song until we had it really good. There were nearly 60 students in the signing choir at Pulse so it takes lots of time to get it right and make sure we are all in time with each other.
Just before dinner we had a rehearsal down on the floor of the stadium. It was a little bit scary to see how big it was. We had to be very quiet going through the tunnel under the stadium.
Before we performed we got dinner and we had my favourite… soft serve with sour sherbet. And we did not spill it on our t-shirts!
We performed our signing song which was Fireflies. When we were in our seats we also did a crowd performance of Supernova and Dance the Night. Over 4000 students performed in Pulse Alive 2024 concert. When we weren’t performing we were able to watch the other students performing which was really good.
At the end of the concert we had to be very careful not to get lost because everyone left at the same time and it was so busy. We got back to the motel about 11:00 pm. When we got back we went straight to sleep. The next morning we had to get up at 5:00 am. The next day we had to get the mini bus to the train station. We got the train home to Albury then got the public bus to Mulwala. All the parents were very happy to see us. It was a very fun and amazing experience for everyone.
