Dear parents and carers
Meet and Greet
I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the families, community members, and staff who attended our recent meet and greet. A special thank you to Aunty Iris from Many Mobs for her beautiful Acknowledgement of Country.
I also want to recognise our school captains, Lylah and Grace, for their outstanding efforts in promoting our school. It was wonderful to see our visitors engage in activities to learn more about what makes our school special.
Thank you for being a part of our community!

A reminder that whilst Monday 10 March is a public holiday in Victoria, it is a normal school day for Mulwala Public school.
Parent -teacher interviews
We are already more than halfway through the term. The students are displaying progress in their learning, as well as participating in many extra-curricular activities.
You will be invited to attend a meeting with your child's teacher during Weeks 9 and 10. Information will be sent out shortly.
Join our P&C Association
National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy
All students in Years 3 and 5 in Australia participate in National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy. This consists of 4 assessments which will be held from Wednesday 12 March until Monday 21 March. Parents will receive a report on the child's achievement later in the year. Please contact your child's teacher if you require further information.
Attendance
It’s always wonderful to have our students in classrooms, ready to engage and learn. Our teachers and school staff are committed to fostering growth and opportunity, and we are here to work with you to support your child to reach their full potential.
Consistently going to school has countless benefits – from learning, to creating social connections and improving wellbeing through access to support and quality education.
Students are required to attend school every day, whether it’s the first or last day of the term, Mondays, Fridays or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions and incursions.
As we look ahead to the remainder of the school year, I’d like to remind our school community that we are here to work with you to support your child to thrive. We know that families experience a variety of challenging circumstances, and we are committed to working with you to address any barriers to regular attendance.
If your child is absent from school, please let us know why as soon as possible, even if it’s just a few minutes at the start or end of the school day. Of course, there will be times when your child is unable to be at school, like when they are unwell. Medical appointments should take place outside school hours where possible, and family holidays should be taken in term breaks.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or to me directly. There are also helpful resources for parents and carers on the NSW Department of Education website.
Thank you for being a part of our school community and for partnering with us to ensure students access the endless benefits of regular school attendance.
School Bytes
Communication from the school (newsletters, class newsletters, permission notes etc) to parents is sent via School Bytes. Parents can turn notifications on the mobile app. This will ensure you do not miss any important information, and your child does not miss out on any event. Schools must receive parental permission for any student to participate in an extra-curricular event.
Active Citizens
We encourage our students to be active citizens and celebrate their involvement with the community. Students are asked each Monday during jarmbie time to share their active citizenship activities, but sometimes activities are missed. Parents are invited to contact the teachers to share their child's activities.

Mr. Clancy congratulated them for their outstanding performance in the State Auslan Choir at the Elevate the Stage concert in Sydney.
Their commitment and passion for performance are truly commendable! Mr Clancy gave a special shoutout to Mrs Rosmulder for her hard work and unwavering support leading up to this incredible achievement.
Last Friday 6 students represented our school at the Finley Zone swimming carnival. Well done to Arabella, Tilly, Livai, Poppy, Harper and Sadie who were wonderful ambassadors for our school.
A big congratulations to Livai, Poppy, Harper and Sadie who have been selected in the Finley Zone swimming team to compete in the Peter Dobson small schools' relay next Monday at Leeton.
Week 4: Session 2
Wednesday 19 February the boys visited the Mulwala Ski Park. With the world championships coming to Mulwala in March we helped weed, and level the lawned area, making it safer for the spectators during the event. The boys learned about removing the root system of the weeds and taking them away from the site to avoid reseeding. We then moved several barrows of sand and spread it to level the lawns.
Another big barbeque and a trip to the boat shed to see the big twin engine ski crafts that will tow the skiers.
We called in to Lake Mulwala to drop a line in and test our skills at fishing. This week Xavier was successful at dragging in a large cod, only to slip the line at the bank.
Week 5: Session 3
Wednesday 26 February the boys travelled to the Winton Wetlands to assist on fencing work at the cultural centre. We were responsible for removing the fence around the turtle sculpture garden, which had been put up to protect the new plants and allow them to get established, without being eaten by the native animals.
We enjoyed a play on the excellent playground and had a barbeque lunch. Fencing turned out to be hot and hungry work.
Following lunch we honed our fishing skills, this time Xander reeled in two carp, we successfully landed one.
Week 6: Session 4
Monday 3 March the boys visited the North East Livestock Exchange to have a tour of the complex and see the saleyards in preparation for sale day. Tabby, who works in administration, gave us a detailed insight into the day to day operations of the saleyards, the technology and automation used to move up to 200 head of cattle through the system twice a week. On Tuesday the cattle sold are sold by weight, with both individual and bulk scales available to weigh the cattle. On Thursday the cattle are sold by the head, and will mostly be taken for restocking farms.
Following our visit to North East Livestock Exchange, we returned by bus to Mulwala to visit the Mulwala Water Ski Club and have a tour of the kitchen at Waterside Pizza, Pasta & Grill. The boys learned about the precision in making a batch of pizza dough, and they had the chance to make their own pizza for lunch.
Week 6: Session 5
Tomorrow the boys will participate in the final session of the program, where we will travel to Squires Winery to learn about the process of vine management, grape picking and other skills required to work in viticulture.
Clean Up Australia Day is an important event where schools across New South Wales engage students in environmental stewardship and community responsibility. On Friday, students participated in organised clean-up activities within their school grounds and local neighbourhood down the foreshore, promoting awareness of litter and its impact on the environment. As a school, important conversations were had about sustainability, recycling, and the importance of keeping the environment clean, fostering a sense of pride and ownership among students to keep our local area clean. This involvement not only helps to beautify the local area but also instills lifelong values of environmental care and teamwork. Students from our school always enjoy participating in this activity and work hard to collect all rubbish they see within our community.
We are holding School Fun Run’s Crazy Colour Day again this year. We will be raising much needed funds in the lead up to our event for new playground equipment / furniture with a target of $2000 so we’re asking all families to pitch in!
We are super excited to announce that we will be holding our event on Friday 4 April at 2pm on the school oval.
Please check the school calendar regularly. It is available on the School Bytes app and at the top of the newsletter.
