Yarma (Welcome)
Dear parents and carers
Welcome back to term 4. Next week we are pleased to welcome Mrs Thorpe back to school. Mrs Thorpe will be working Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
State Athletics
Nancy will be competing in the PSSA State athletics carnival on Wednesday and Thursday next week. We wish her the best of luck and we know she will do her best in representing our school.
Grandparents Day
Yesterday the students took home invitations for the grandparents, inviting them to our Grandparents day on Friday 28 October.
Hats
All students are required to wear a hat when playing in the sun during Terms 4 and 1. The UV is quite high, even if the days are cool or wet. The students should wear a hat with a brim, preferably a school hat. Caps are not acceptable.
School Uniform
There are an increasing number of students not wearing school uniform. As a school, we encourage all students to wear their uniforms with pride. If for any reason your child is unable to wear their school uniform, please contact the school.
Complaints, Compliments and Suggestions
We work hard to create positive environments for our school community. When we work together with our community, we set the foundations for our children to receive the best education, so that they are known, valued and cared for.
We would like you to tell us when we have done something well, so we can pass this on and try to repeat this experience for others. It is also important that our community feels comfortable to ask questions and voice concerns, and to know they will be heard when they do.
Schools are always the best place to approach in the first instance. Your child’s teacher is often a good contact to start with. If you’re unsure of who to talk to, the front office staff can help.
We know that parents are busy and may not have time to come to the school in person or contact us during working hours. That’s why we provide different ways to contact us, so that you can contact us when it suits you best. You can contact us in person, via phone or email, or Class Dojo message and we will get back to you in a timely manner. If necessary, we can set up an appointment for you to meet with someone to discuss your concerns.
We are committed to working with our community to support your needs, and we ask that in return, you support us in making our interactions positive. It’s important that school staff feel safe in our workplace. So we ask that all interactions are respectful, and focussed on solutions. Schools are busy places, so we ask for your patience if we need some time to resolve issues that may arise.
For more information on providing feedback, please ask, or see the department’s complaints, compliments and suggestions page, School Community Charter or our Tips and advice for effective complaining
Bringing belongings to school
We discourage students from bringing any belonging from home to school. This prevents students from becoming upset because they have lost something, or it gets broken. We have had some students trading their toys. The school has plenty of various equipment for the students to play with in their breaks
Lost Property
There are hundreds of dollars worth of lost property belonging to students at school, which is unnamed. This consists of clothing and drink bottles. Please ask your child to look in the lost property baskets to retrieve their items.
Updated Covid Information
The recent announcement to the changes in how schools use RATs as a surveillance measure against COVID-19 means that students and staff will only need to test if they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms. If you require more RAT kits please contact the school.
Our school will continue to ensure our core COVID-smart layers are in place, including vaccinations, physical distancing where possible, maximised fresh air flow through natural ventilation, continued good hand hygiene practices and enhanced cleaning.
If a student or staff member receives a positive RAT result, they need to:
record the positive RAT result through the Service NSW website or Service NSW app and please include the name of your child’s school when prompted
notify the school of the positive RAT or PCR result as soon as possible
follow NSW Health advice to isolate for 5 days.
Registering your child’s positive RAT with Service NSW is a requirement of the Public Health Order and helps NSW Health track COVID-19 in schools and address any public health issues early on if required.
Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the school.
Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
If symptoms continue, they should stay at home and take another RAT in 24 hours or have a PCR test.
If the second RAT or initial PCR test result is negative and they are displaying no symptoms OR they are diagnosed as another condition such as hayfever, the student or staff member can return to school.
In NSW, positive COVID-19 cases are provided a Medical Clearance Notice after 7 days and allowed to leave self-isolation as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
For further information refer to the NSW Government’s Rapid antigen testing fact sheetExternal link.
Thank you again for your continued support during this school term.

Principal
Dear parents and carers,
As we near the end of the year, I want to thank you for your ongoing support and notify you of a date change for the last day of Term 4 classes.
Students will now finish school on Friday 16 December 2022.
This is due to an additional School Development Day announced for staff across NSW public schools.
School Development Days allow our staff to participate in professional learning that was put on hold due to COVID-19 staffing pressures and plan ahead for 2023 to ensure we meet the needs of our students.
With this change, we ask that you arrange alternative care for your child on Monday 19 December.
While there will be no classes on Monday 19 December, if you cannot arrange alternative care for your child, we will provide minimal supervision at school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me on 57443462 or via email mulwala-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
Kind regards
Gayle Pinn

On the 19th of September me and 8 of my friends all went to Sydney by car, train and plane for a combined schools signing choir at the Sydney Town Hall. The performance was on Monday night at 7pm. In the morning we went to the Sydney Town Hall for practice for the whole day. There were 59 people doing the signing and we were nine of them. We all performed two songs. The first one was I Was Here and Evening Star. I was here had two girls who sang it and Evening Star had a lot of people on stage and on the back seats. There were two conductors Larry and Ronnda. I was following Ronda. In Evening Star there is an echoing part. My side echoed. There were LOTS more people than I thought in and out of the performance and the performance was amazing. It was a great success! We all did amazing. We spent many Monday and Friday lunch times to practice. Thank You. By Dious
On the 19th of September 9 students went to Sydney Town Hall to perform in Primary Proms 2022. There we practised nearly all day for the performance at night. There were two sides since there were so many people. We had two signing conductors. One side was Larry’s and the other was Rhonda’s side. We practised 2 songs both in Auslan, one song was ‘ I was here ‘ and the other song was ‘ Evening Star ‘ which we practised at school on Mondays and Fridays during lunch time. I was here was sung by two girls whose voices were both equally amazing, And Evening star was sung by the choir whose voice was also amazing. Then at night at about 7:00 pm we got onto the stage. Everyone was so good, and the choir plus two girls sang amazingly. There were loads of people and most of our parents were there too! We got off the stage after we signed the two songs and went back to the room that we practised in. By Katherine
