Updated Covid Information
The recent announcement to the changes in how schools use RATs as a surveillance measure against COVID-19 means that students and staff will only need to test if they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms. If you require more RAT kits please contact the school.
Our school will continue to ensure our core COVID-smart layers are in place, including vaccinations, physical distancing where possible, maximised fresh air flow through natural ventilation, continued good hand hygiene practices and enhanced cleaning.
If a student or staff member receives a positive RAT result, they need to:
record the positive RAT result through the Service NSW website or Service NSW app and please include the name of your child’s school when prompted
notify the school of the positive RAT or PCR result as soon as possible
follow NSW Health advice to isolate for 7 days.
Registering your child’s positive RAT with Service NSW is a requirement of the Public Health Order and helps NSW Health track COVID-19 in schools and address any public health issues early on if required.
Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the school.
Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
If symptoms continue, they should stay at home and take another RAT in 24 hours or have a PCR test.
If the second RAT or initial PCR test result is negative and they are displaying no symptoms OR they are diagnosed as another condition such as hayfever, the student or staff member can return to school.
In NSW, positive COVID-19 cases are provided a Medical Clearance Notice after 7 days and allowed to leave self-isolation as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
For further information refer to the NSW Government’s Rapid antigen testing fact sheetExternal link.
The announcement to ease the isolation requirements for close contacts was made on 20 April 2022. This will enable students and staff who are close contacts and have no symptoms to continue to attend school if they follow guidelines agreed with NSW Health.
Note that staff and students who have had confirmed COVID-19 in the last 12 weeks do not have to comply with the following guidelines if they become a household or close contact and are not required to self-isolate or test unless they develop new COVID-19 symptoms.
Close contacts attending school will need to adhere to the following in addition to the NSW Health guidelines
They must notify the school and/or early childhood education (ECE) service provider (including their outside of school hours care provider) if they are intending to return under this provision.
They should conduct a daily RAT and return a negative result each morning before attending school for 5 school days.
They (if in a secondary school setting) must wear a mask indoors except when eating or exercising. Primary school students are recommended to wear a mask indoors (except when eating or exercising).
No student or staff member identified as a close contact will be permitted to participate in overnight excursions, including school camps.
Thank you again for your continued support during this school term.

English in Nungara with Mrs Thorpe has seen some wonderful and interesting conversations happening about climate change. We have investigated what climate change is and realised that the more questions we ask the more information we collect. We are quickly turning into climate change warriors and coming up with great ideas to keep our planet great!

On the 25 October Year 4 went to Corowa High school transition day to see what high school is like. We caught the bus at the bakery. You had to be there by 7:50. You could catch the bus somewhere else if it was easier for you. When we got there the year 10 leaders took us to the indoor basketball court. Then we got split into 3 groups and the groups names were Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, and Daffy Duck. You had 4 year 10 leaders in a group. There were 6 periods in the day and these are the ones we got to do: an escape room, music, science, and two periods of sport. We were given free sausages and an icy pole and at the end of the day we got a ruler with 2 pencils and a rubber. Then we caught the bus back to the bakery.

On Friday 28 October Mulwala Public School had a Grandparents Day! Students had their grandparents or special person attend from 1pm - 3pm. They participated in fun activities, questions and trivia. We showed the special people around our classrooms and the school. We also had a special lunch. We had sausage in bread and some treats afterwards such as cupcakes, biscuits, lamingtons and a fruit platter. Everyone had a great time and loved having their special person come. Thank you to all the teachers for a wonderful day!

Police Fun Day
On police fun day we did multiple activities but our favourite activity was the police obstacle course. It was so fun. Mrs Thorpe chose three people from each Jarmbie group to race against the police officers. Their names were Gary, Kyle, and Nick. They were all really nice.

Police fun day
On the 2 November the whole school participated in Police Fun day. We had lots of fun activities like an obstacle course, a kahoot in Nungara and a dress up in police clothes relay. In the obstacle course we had to quickly step through the sticks, side step through the ladder, step across the stepping stones, do 5 jumps on the trampoline, run with the wheelbarrow up to the basketball hoop and get a shot.
