Yarma (Welcome)
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope you all enjoyed a restful break and are recharged for the exciting weeks ahead. As we embark on this final term of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our ongoing commitment to teaching and learning, as well as the numerous extracurricular activities and opportunities available to our students.
As we start this final term, let’s work together to create a positive, supportive environment for our students. I am excited to see all that they will accomplish in the coming weeks, both academically and personally. Thank you for your continued support, and let’s make Term 4 a memorable one!
Welcome to Mr Boyer
I would like to welcome Mr Tom Boyer as a permanent teacher at Mulwala Public School. Mr Boyer comes with a wealth of teaching experience in various settings and has a passion and expertise in the area of technology. Mr Boyer will be teaching the Bobinawarrah class for Term 4.
Good luck Nancy!
We wish the best of luck to Nancy, who is competing in high jump and shot put at the PSSA State Athletics carnival next week. This is an amazing achievement by Nancy.
Focus on Teaching and Learning
At our school, we are dedicated to providing a rich and engaging learning environment for every student. This term, our teachers will continue to implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning needs of all students.. We encourage our students to embrace challenges, think critically, and develop a love for lifelong learning. With the culmination of the year approaching, we will also focus on preparing our students for their next steps, whether that be transitioning to a new grade or preparing for high school.
To support this journey, we will be offering additional resources, including targeted support for students, to ensure that every student reaches their full potential. The parents of students who will be receiving extra support will receive information in the near future.
Exciting Extracurricular Activities
In addition to our robust curriculum, we are thrilled to offer a variety of extracurricular activities this term. These programs not only enhance our students' educational experiences but also foster personal growth, teamwork, and leadership skills.
From whole school excursion, water safety, community events and music performances there are countless opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents. I encourage all students to get involved and take advantage of these enriching experiences. Participating in extracurricular activities can be incredibly rewarding, providing a sense of belonging and community.
Stay Updated with Events
As we move through Term 4, it’s important to stay informed about school events and important dates. Please keep an eye on our school calendar, which is regularly updated in the newsletter and on School Bytes. This is your go-to resource for everything happening at our school, from end of year activities to special performances and community events.
I encourage all families to engage with the school community, attend events, and support our students in their various pursuits. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our school culture and reinforces the importance of education.

Grandparents Day is a time to celebrate the love, wisdom, and guidance that grandparents provide to their grandchildren. It is a chance for our students to express their gratitude and create lasting memories with their grandparents through various activities and events planned for the day.
We invite all grandparents and special family members to join us for a day filled with joy, laughter, and togetherness.
Please RSVP to the school for catering purposes.

Assemblies and partial absences
We would like to emphasise the importance of maintaining accurate attendance records as required by the Department. To support our students' learning, we encourage everyone to remain at school until the official end of the school day at 3:00 PM.
Starting with our next assembly, students will be asked to return to their classrooms immediately after the event. If you choose for your child to leave early, please note that they will be marked absent for part of the day. This is crucial for keeping accurate attendance records and ensuring that our students do not miss out on valuable learning opportunities.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Allergy Aware School
We are seeking your help to support Keisha who has severe allergies.
Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that is potentially life-threatening. The most common causes of anaphylaxis in schools are allergies to food and insects (bees). To help manage allergies, our school is following the National Allergy Council’s Best Practice Guidelines for Anaphylaxis Prevention and Management in Schools.
The Best Practice Guidelines recommend an Allergy Aware approach, which means we are supporting students at risk of anaphylaxis in the following ways:
• training staff
• educating students about allergies and anaphylaxis
• teaching students that we all have different needs and to be respectful of others
• teaching students the importance of getting help immediately if their friend with allergy looks sick.
For food allergies, we are also:
encouraging all students to wash their hands before and after eating.
teaching students not to share food with friends who have food allergy.
encouraging students to not bring nut products to school.
We ask you to support the school’s Allergy Aware approach so that we can increase safety and provide an environment that meets the needs of all our students.
Thank you for helping our school be “Allergy Aware”.
School uniforms
We have noticed a growing number of students attending school without the proper uniform. We encourage all students to wear the school uniform to demonstrate pride in our school community.
For families in need of additional uniforms, please remember that we have a second-hand clothing pool available to assist you.
Lost Property
There is a large amount of lost property at school. Please encourage your child to retrieve their lost items.
COVID 19 Advice
Students and staff should stay home when sick. Students, staff and visitors should only attend school when feeling well and symptom-free. Follow NSW Health advice on Testing and what to do if you have COVID-19
Parents and carers of children with persistent or ongoing COVID-19 symptom should discuss these with their local health care professional. These symptoms may be related to other illnesses (such as allergies or hay fever) and benefit from treatment and management by a doctor.
From the start of 2024, rapid antigen tests (RAT) are no longer available free of charge to schools. NSW Health recommend Testing for COVID-19 if you have symptoms and are at higher risk of serious illness.
