Permission Notes
All permission notes and excursion information are sent out via School eNews. It is a quick and easy way for parents to sign the notes and for schools to receive the signed notes. Please ensure you have the notifications turned on and you check the app regularly so your child does not miss out on an important activity.
Small Schools Cross Country
The students will be participating in the Small Schools Cross Country on Friday 20 May at Jerilderie. The bus will leave the school at 8:30 am. The students are to wear their sports uniform and take their hat, a water bottle and recess and lunch.
If your child has ordered a lunch order, they are asked to give the money to the office prior to Friday.
Updated Covid Information
The recent announcement to the changes in how schools use RATs as a surveillance measure against COVID-19 means that students and staff will only need to test if they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms. If you require more RAT kits please contact the school.
Our school will continue to ensure our core COVID-smart layers are in place, including vaccinations, physical distancing where possible, maximised fresh air flow through natural ventilation, continued good hand hygiene practices and enhanced cleaning.
If a student or staff member receives a positive RAT result, they need to:
record the positive RAT result through the Service NSW websiteExternal link or Service NSW appExternal link and please include the name of your child’s school when prompted
notify the school of the positive RAT or PCR result as soon as possible
follow NSW Health advice to isolate for 7 days.
Registering your child’s positive RAT with Service NSW is a requirement of the Public Health Order and helps NSW Health track COVID-19 in schools and address any public health issues early on if required.
Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the school.
Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
If symptoms continue, they should stay at home and take another RAT in 24 hours or have a PCR test.
If the second RAT or initial PCR test result is negative and they are displaying no symptoms OR they are diagnosed as another condition such as hayfever, the student or staff member can return to school.
In NSW, positive COVID-19 cases are provided a Medical Clearance Notice after 7 days and allowed to leave self-isolation as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
For further information refer to the NSW Government’s Rapid antigen testing fact sheetExternal link.
The announcement to ease the isolation requirements for close contacts was made on 20 April 2022. This will enable students and staff who are close contacts and have no symptoms to continue to attend school if they follow guidelines agreed with NSW Health.
Note that staff and students who have had confirmed COVID-19 in the last 12 weeks do not have to comply with the following guidelines if they become a household or close contact and are not required to self-isolate or test unless they develop new COVID-19 symptoms.
Close contacts attending school will need to adhere to the following in addition to the NSW Health guidelines
They must notify the school and/or early childhood education (ECE) service provider (including their outside of school hours care provider) if they are intending to return under this provision.
They should conduct a daily RAT and return a negative result each morning before attending school for 5 school days.
They (if in a secondary school setting) must wear a mask indoors except when eating or exercising. Primary school students are recommended to wear a mask indoors (except when eating or exercising).
No student or staff member identified as a close contact will be permitted to participate in overnight excursions, including school camps.
Thank you again for your continued support during this school term.

Mr Rosmulder is teaching the Kinder students to read and match the Oxford Words.
The Goonie students are benifitting from our new interactive panel.
The students have learnt to play maths games to assist them in developing their mental strategies.
The students participate in the FRIENDS program each Thursday with Katei. They have learnt about being brave and naming their feelings.
The colour fun run was a blast. Wom went first, Yarra went second and Bar went third. If we wanted to go again it went in year levels; 5/6 went then 3/4 and year 1/2and then Kinder. In the colour fun run lots of people got so much colour on them. Colour was everywhere -we got it in our hair, clothes, and all over our bodies some people even got it in their mouths! It was also a fundraiser for the school. Depending on how much money we raised we could get different prizes -for example, if we raised $50 you can get something from the $50 - $99 range or one from the lower and lowest or two from the lowest.

Last Monday, we walked down to the netball court for a netball knockout. The players in our team were Remi, Milla, Nancy, Natalie, Layla, Isabel, Zali, Katherine, Zoe and Scarlett.
We played against Berrigan. They won and we lost but we tried our best and we had so much fun. In the last 5 minutes, Mrs Thorpe came down and watched us play. Mrs Linehan was our coach.

Last Wednesday we had a mufti-day and Crazy Hair day because we wanted to raise money for our school so we can make our school better and more fun. We raised $92 for the SRC.

At the teddy bears picnic, we sat in our jarmbie groups on the mats. The Mulwala preschoolers came as well as some parents down to the lake. The year 4Å› decided to take some balls and some years 5 and 6 were helping bring down the lunch orders. The preschoolers, Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 played on the playground. The years 3, 4, 5 and 6 played on the grass area with some soft balls. While we played we were told not to go past the trees for our safety. While we ate, we sat with our teddies and hugged them. When we were playing it started to rain, then some people put their teddies under their hats and shirts. When we were walking to the lake and back, we carried our teddies and lunches and walked with our jarmbie reader. When we got back to school it was the end of lunch. Before the teddy bears' picnic mostly everyone was playing with their teddies at recess. The teddy bears' picnic was amazing and everyone had so much fun!

On Friday we walked with Mrs Linehan, Mrs Rosmulder, Mrs Pinn and Mrs Couch to school. There was a cold breeze and a few puddles and there were heaps of leaves on the ground from the new season coming in. Mrs Linehan started at the corner of Savernake Rd and Corowa Rd, Mrs Rosmulder started at the corner of Romney Street and Beams Street, Mrs Pinn started at the Mulwala Bakery and Mrs Couch stayed at school with some kids. When we got to school we sat on the seats for a bit until they called that our yummy breakfast was ready. We had pancakes, fruit and juice. The fruit was juicy, the pancakes were fluffy and the juice was refreshing.
Thank you to our Mulwala P&C for providing us with delicious pancakes, fruit and juice.

Students from our school have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
On our recent excursion to Canberra students were able to visit the following places. complimenting our unit of study on democracy.
Royal Australian Mint
Australian War Memorial
Australian Institute of Sport
National Electoral Education Centre
