Year 3-6 Ballarat excursion
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the excursion to Ballarat. No school excursions to Victoria are permitted by the NSW Department of Education until further notice. We have rescheduled it for 8-10 September (Week 9 Term 3).
Signing Permission Notes
We still have a number of students who are not having signed permission notes on the day they are due. It is taking staff a lot of time to chase up the notes to ensure all students are able to participate in events. Please ensure the notes are signed by the due dates.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Parents are invited to contact the teachers to book an interview at a convenient time for both of them. Please contact the teachers via Class Dojo.
Covid Guidelines
The NSW Health and NSW Department of Education has updated the guidelines regarding Covid-19. They can be viewed here. Please note the following.
School excursions and non-essential business travel to Victoria are not permitted until further notice.
In accordance with the Victorian Government 'circuit breaker' restrictions, all staff residing in NSW and Victoria, and students are permitted to attend NSW schools except for the following reasons:
They must remain at home if they are unwell, even with the mildest of symptoms. If they are unwell they must receive a negative COVID test and be symptom free before returning to school.
If they have been to a venue of concern they must comply with the self-isolation and testing requirements as directed by the relevant Health Department. If they attended any of the venues identified on the Victorian Government website at the times listed, please contact NSW Health immediately on 1800 943 553.
If they are travelling from outside the ‘border bubble’ defined by the map, they will need to sign a declaration in accordance with NSW Health requirements. The declaration form is available on the Service NSW website, and can be completed in the 24-hour period before entering NSW or on arrival. The information gathered via the travel declarations is vital in allowing NSW Health to contact travellers if necessary.
It is important that schools and families continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines outlined on this page. In particular, we wish to highlight the following:
Students should not attend school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms should be sent home and should not return until they have received a negative test result and are symptom-free. In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms a letter from their GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.
Anyone who is unwell with COVID-19 symptoms is strongly encouraged to get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received. Locations of testing clinics are available via the NSW government website.
Schools must continue to implement:
Personal hygiene, physical distancing, cleaning and record keeping practices.
Where possible to use outdoor areas weather permitting or large open spaces to enable adequate physical distancing.
All visitors to a school site must be well and symptom free, comply with sign-in arrangements, and the 1.5m physical distancing requirements.
Visitors to schools should maintain 1.5m distance from other people where practicable. Avoid congestion of groups of visitors in specific areas where possible.
All visitors to a school site must comply with sign-in arrangements. This includes acknowledging that they will comply with the COVID-19 requirements for visitors, contractors and service providers each time they visit. Visitors must also check in using the Service NSW QR code. Parents and carers who are dropping off or picking up students do not need to sign in or use the Service NSW QR code.

On 25 May we went to Musica Viva. We watched a performance about Da Vinci’s inventions. A girl wanted to be an inventor like Da Vinci, but Da Vinci only let boys be an inventor so she dressed up like a boy. She snuck in to Da Vinci’s invention box and found really good inventions and really wanted to be like him. She had a close up look at it .

On Thursday 27 May Year 3-6 Jarmbies went to Kyffins Reserve for an ecology and cultural walk. This day was organised by the Corowa and District Landcare Group and we had guest speakers, Bpangerang elder Uncle Dozer Atkinson, Jai Atkinson and local ecologist Ian Davidson.
Uncle Dozer and his daughter Jai talked about all the different sacred trees that are important to the Aboriginal culture and history. They spoke about the Signal, Scare and Birthing trees. The Signal tree was something that the Indigenous people used to signify a baby was being born and signalled men and children were not to enter the area. The Scare trees were created when coolamon and canoes were made from the bark on the outside of the tree. The birthing trees are very sacred and have their own special design. Ian talked about the different plants that were found in the area and described what the country would have looked like hundreds of years ago. Uncle Dozer also played the didgeridoo (yidaki) and made the sounds of the kangaroo, dingo and kookaburra. These sounds and music are used in ceremonial dances. All the students enjoyed the day and found out a lot of information about our local Bpangerang history. It was a great way to start our Reconciliation Week activities. By Emily and Izzy
