Dear parents and carers
Parent -teacher interviews
We invite you to attend a parent-teacher interview during Weeks 9 and 10. This meeting is an excellent opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement with their teacher.
The purpose of these interviews is to foster communication between home and school, ensuring that we are all working together to support your child's learning journey. By participating, you can gain valuable insights into your child's academic performance and social development, and collaborate on strategies to enhance their educational experience.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together to support your child's success!
Attendance
It’s always wonderful to have our students in classrooms, ready to engage and learn. Our teachers and school staff are committed to fostering growth and opportunity, and we are here to work with you to support your child to reach their full potential.
Consistently going to school has countless benefits – from learning, to creating social connections and improving wellbeing through access to support and quality education.
Students are required to attend school every day, whether it’s the first or last day of the term, Mondays, Fridays or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions and incursions.
As we look ahead to the remainder of the school year, I’d like to remind our school community that we are here to work with you to support your child to thrive. We know that families experience a variety of challenging circumstances, and we are committed to working with you to address any barriers to regular attendance.
If your child is absent from school, please let us know why as soon as possible, even if it’s just a few minutes at the start or end of the school day. Of course, there will be times when your child is unable to be at school, like when they are unwell. Medical appointments should take place outside school hours where possible, and family holidays should be taken in term breaks.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or to me directly. There are also helpful resources for parents and carers on the NSW Department of Education website.
Thank you for being a part of our school community and for partnering with us to ensure students access the endless benefits of regular school attendance.
School Bytes
Communication from the school (newsletters, class newsletters, permission notes etc) to parents is sent via School Bytes. Parents can turn notifications on the mobile app. This will ensure you do not miss any important information, and your child does not miss out on any event. Schools must receive parental permission for any student to participate in an extra-curricular event.
Active Citizens
We encourage our students to be active citizens and celebrate their involvement with the community. Students are asked each Monday during jarmbie time to share their active citizenship activities, but sometimes activities are missed. Parents are invited to contact the teachers to share their child's activities.
End of Term 1
A reminder that Term 1 ends on Friday 4 April. Students return to school on Thursday 24 April for Term 2.

Harmony Day encourages us to reflect on our shared values and the importance of diversity in our society.
Did you know the colour orange has a significance on Harmony Day? It represents social cohesion and the idea of everyone coming together. The colour was chosen to represent to symbolise freedom, respect and a shared sense of belonging, reflet the spirit of our diverse Australian community.

As we reflect on the incredible support our community provides to those in need, we would like to highlight the important role Stewart House plays in the lives of 1,600 public school children each year. Located in Sydney, Stewart House offers a vital sanctuary for children from various parts of NSW and the ACT, providing them with essential optometric, dental, and medical treatment, as well as emotional support during their stay.
Traditionally, teachers and staff from the NSW public education system have shown remarkable generosity, contributing around $2 million annually through fortnightly salary donations. Additionally, our public school children engage in school-based fundraising efforts, raising approximately $500,000 each year. However, to sustain these crucial services, Stewart House relies on the continued support of our community through personal and corporate donations, as well as applications for private grants and subsidies.
We are proud to share that students from Mulwala Public School have been nominated to attend Stewart House, where they have experienced numerous opportunities that have made a lasting impact on their lives. The stories they share upon their return are heartwarming and a testament to the positive influence of this remarkable institution.
This is where you can make a difference. We encourage all families to consider supporting Stewart House through donations. Your contributions can help ensure that more children receive the care and support they need to thrive.
Together, let’s continue to make a positive impact on the lives of our children and strengthen our community. Every donation, no matter the size, counts and can help provide these essential services.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Please check the school calendar regularly. It is available on the School Bytes app and at the top of the newsletter.

Hi MPS parents and carers!
Become a part of the school community by joining the P&C (Parents and Citizens) Committee!
I'd really like to encourage you to come along to our next meeting on Monday 12 May at 7pm in the school staff room.
My name is Mel McVicar, I’m the Mum of Evie (Year 3) and Rex (Year 1). I’ve been on the P&C Committee since Evie started at Mul School, and I’d love to meet some new families, and help to support our kids.
Last year, the P&C funded the Student Accident & Injury Insurance Cover, Year 6 jumpers and hoodies, Calculators and dictionaries for the graduating Year 6s, the school excursion bus to Ballarat, Bus to the Athletics carnival in Corowa, New student hats, Reading by the Lake book donations, End of Year Cinema trip. We also supported the Footy Colours Day Lunch and Walk Safely to School Day breakfast, Kite Festival, and Halloween Disco.
Without the P&C’s contributions, the cost of these activities would need to be paid for by each child’s family. We would really love to continue our support, but we need your help. Please consider joining the P&C as a member of the committee, or if you’re unable to commit then we would still love your help with any events or fundraising activities throughout the year.
Looking forward to a great year.
Our next meeting will be held in May.
It is a requirement of the P&C association that all members have a current WWCC. Volunteer applications are free of charge.
