School athletics carnival
The school athletics carnival will be held next week, on Wednesday 25 June. All students K-6 will participate in events. They will travel to the Yarrawonga cricket ground by bus. Please ensure the permission note is signed by Friday 20 June.
The Finely Zone athletics carnival will be held on Friday 22 August at Barooga.
Public Speaking
The Years 3-6 students will be participating in two public speaking competitions this term. Year 2 students are also encouraged to participate in these competitions at the school level.
1. Lions Club Junior Public Speaking Competition
This competition is designed to help students in Grades 3-6 develop their public speaking skills. The preparation for this competition has been a home task. Students in Years 3-4 will present a 3-minute speech on the topic "Creative Invention," while those in Years 5-6 will deliver a 4-minute speech on "Technology."
The school final for this competition will take place on Tuesday 24 June, followed by the local final on Sunday 20 July in Yarrawonga.
2. Multicultural Perspective Public Speaking Competition
In this competition, students have prepared their speeches at school. The school final will be held on Friday 20 June, with the local final scheduled for Thursday 26 June in Howlong.
Both competitions are excellent opportunities for our students to enhance their communication skills, build confidence, and express their ideas in front of an audience.
Pulse Deniliquin
July 29 to July 31, students in Years 3 to 6 will have the incredible opportunity to participate in workshops in drama, music, and dance, conducted by expert tutors from the Arts Unit. This initiative, known as Pulse Deniliquin, culminates in two performances on Thursday, July 31, where our talented students will showcase their hard work and creativity.
For our younger students in K-2, we have designed a special one-day workshop in creative arts, where they will engage in a variety of activities and have their performance recorded on video for all to enjoy. We are excited to announce that there will be no cost for these workshops, as the Mulwala Water Ski Club has generously provided a grant to cover the transportation expenses.
Please note that the permission note must be signed by Friday 20 June.
Sickness
There have been a significant number of students and staff members absent from school due to colds and flu. It is essential for us to prioritise health and well-being during this time. If your child is experiencing symptoms of illness, we strongly encourage you to keep them at home to rest and recover. This not only aids in their healing process but also helps prevent the spread of illness within our school community.
Unfortunately, due to the significant number of sick students, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Small Schools Soccer Knockout. We understand how disappointing this news may be, but the health and safety of our students must come first.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring that our school remains a healthy environment for everyone.
School Uniform
Over the past few weeks, we have observed a significant increase in the number of students proudly wearing their school uniforms. This trend not only enhances our school’s identity but also fosters a stronger sense of belonging among our students.
We would like to thank parents and guardians for their continued support in reinforcing the importance of our school uniform. Your encouragement at home is vital in helping students understand the significance of representing our school with pride.
We encourage all students to wear their uniforms with pride, knowing they are part of a vibrant and supportive school community. Together, we can enhance our school spirit and further strengthen the bonds that make our school a great place to learn and grow.
Thank you for your commitment to our school values and for helping create an inspiring environment for all.
Student Reports
As we approach the end of the term, our teachers have begun the important task of writing student reports. These reports are a valuable tool for reflecting on the progress each student has made throughout the semester and play a crucial role in guiding their future learning journey.
In these reports, teachers will provide an overview of each student’s achievements, highlighting their strengths and the skills they have developed. This is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication that our students have shown in their studies. Recognising individual successes not only boosts student morale but also encourages them to continue striving for excellence.
Equally important, the reports will identify areas where students can improve. Constructive feedback is essential for growth, and our teachers are committed to providing clear, actionable insights that will help students focus on their learning goals. By pinpointing specific areas for development, we aim to empower students to take ownership of their learning and seek support where needed.
We understand that these reports are a significant part of our communication with parents and guardians. They serve as a bridge between home and school, allowing families to engage in meaningful discussions about their child's progress and future aspirations. We encourage you to review these reports together, celebrating achievements and setting goals for the next term.
The student reports will be distributed on Friday 4 July.
End of Term 2
Term 2 ends on Friday 4 July. The students return to school on Tuesday 22 July.
