Exciting programs being offered at Mulwala Public School
I am thrilled to share some exciting programs we will be offering this year that promise to enrich our students' educational experiences and foster their creativity and career aspirations.
Pulse Deniliquin: A Creative Arts Extravaganza!
From July 29 to July 31, students in Years 3 to 6 will have the incredible opportunity to participate in workshops in drama, music, and dance, conducted by expert tutors from the Arts Unit. This initiative, known as Pulse Deniliquin, culminates in two performances on Thursday, July 31, where our talented students will showcase their hard work and creativity.
For our younger students in K-2, we have designed a special one-day workshop in creative arts, where they will engage in a variety of activities and have their performance recorded on video for all to enjoy. We are excited to announce that there will be no cost for these workshops, as the Mulwala Water Ski Club has generously provided a grant to cover the transportation expenses.
Year 5 and 6 Careers Program
In addition to our arts programs, our Year 5 and 6 students will participate in a comprehensive careers program alongside students from Corowa High School, Corowa Public School, and Corowa South Public School. This program includes engaging careers lessons and a workshop focusing on emergency services in Term 2.
Looking ahead, students will have the chance to have universities and TAFE visit and conduct workshops in Term 3, and in Term 4, we will emphasise local careers and have a special visit to Melbourne to learn about more careers. We are pleased to inform you that this program will also be provided at no cost to families, thanks to a generous grant we have received.
We are committed to providing our students with diverse and enriching experiences that will inspire them and help them grow. We encourage all students to take part in these wonderful opportunities and look forward to seeing their creativity and enthusiasm shine!
Small Group Tuition Program
The NSW Government has funded Small Group Tuition as a permanent, evidence informed literacy and numeracy program. This program provides targeted, short-term support for students Needing Additional Support (NAS), identified through NAPLAN, departmental and school-based assessments. It is implemented in all NSW public schools, ensuring equitable access for all students.
At our school, the executive team has been collaborating to use this funding effectively. We are refining our plan, recruiting and training staff and identifying students who will benefit most, with a continued focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes.
For more information about the program, visit the Small Group Tuition website, contact the school.
Digital Device Policy
Teachers use a variety of digital devices and online services to enhance the learning of students. These include desk-top computers, Chromebooks and iPads. The students are restricted to using the devices in class time under teacher supervision.
Students may not bring a mobile device to school (including laptops, tablets, wearable technology, such as smartwatches and headphones). If bought to school, the device must be stored in the office, and be collected at the end of the day.
Mobile devices are not to be taken on excursions or extra-curricular activities.
Please read the school's Mobile Device Policy here.
