Last week of the Term
Term 1 finishes on Thursday 1 April. Students resume school for Term 2 on Tuesday 20 April. I hope the students enjoy their holidays and stay safe.
Easter Activities
Mulwala Pre-school will be joining us for Easter activities on Thursday 1 April. It is very exciting that we can again start combined events with the Pre-school.
Small schools' cross country
The small schools' cross country will be held at Jerilderie on Friday 23 April. All students from K-6 will be attending. Travel will be by bus. There will be no cost for this excursion. A permission note will be sent out as soon as we have the final details.
Shared Parent Responsibilities
Sadly sometimes relationships break down and the court makes orders that change the contact parents can have with their children or the role they play in making decisions about their children’s education. These can be Family Court Orders or Apprehended Violence Orders. Parents can also reach agreement about issues such as contact in a parenting plan.
If this happens it is important that you provide the school with a copy of any court orders or plan that could impact on your child’s education.
In the absence of any notification to the contrary, the school will assume that both parents continue to retain a shared and equal parental responsibility for their children and should be involved in making any decisions regarding their children’s education.
This means that the school will recognise that each parent has equal duties, obligations, responsibilities and opportunities in relation to matters involving the school.
If any changes occur in your family relationships which have the potential to impact on the relationship between the school and your family, please advise the school immediately and provide a copy of any court orders that may be obtained. These orders will be stored securely and only accessed by staff who need to see them in order to plan for your children’s learning and support and related issues.
Covid Guidelines
The NSW Department of Education has updated the guidelines for this year. They can be viewed here. Please note the following
parents are now able to enter the school grounds. However, they must enter via the office to sign-in appropriately.
Parents may now attend the school assemblies. Again they must enter via the office.
All students will be dismissed by the Erne St gate.
Students are requested to bring a water bottle to school each day.
Students are requested to supply an art smock and headphones/earbuds
If any student has the mildest flu-like symptoms they are to provide the school with evidence of a negative Covid test, or remain absent from school for 10 days. Students are not to return to school until all they are symptom-free. Students and staff must not attend school or work if they are unwell, even with the mildness of symptoms including fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste, and loss of smell. Students need to be symptom free and a negative COVID-19 test result must be received and sighted by the school prior to their return to school. Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test are not permitted to return to school for a 10 day period and they must be symptom free for at least 3 days prior to their return. Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition.

During Term 1 all Mulwala Jarmbies have been exploring the art medium of Fibre and Fabrics.
In Nungara our artist in focus has been John Coburn. Students have reflected on some of his world renowned tapestries and created our own artworks inspired by John Coburn and the topic of Nature. Nungara have also designed and started the production of their string art pieces using nails, hammers and string.
In Thurgoon students have combined their English text studies of The Nutcracker, and focused on ballet costumes. Thurgoon have explored different materials and design techniques created by Australian Ballet artist Hugh Colman and have been lucky to view some of Miss Anthony’s personal ballet costumes to inspire them. They are currently working on their Troll World Tour 3D character cushions.
In Goonie students have been getting to know the art room and drawing self portraits in their art folios. Goonie have improved their scissor cutting skills and practiced the art form of weaving and threading.
