Parking around the school
I want to take a moment to highlight an important aspect of our daily routine: parking around the school. The safety of our students, staff, and the wider community remains our top priority, and I appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a secure environment.
We kindly remind all parents to park carefully and responsibly when dropping off or picking up their children. It is essential to obey all parking signs and regulations in the vicinity of the school. This enhances the safety of our students as they enter and exit the school grounds.
To ensure that parents have adequate parking available, we ask staff to keep Melbourne Street, directly in front of the school, clear for parent parking. By doing we create a safer environment for everyone during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.
Our staff will find a time to talk to you when they can give you their full attention. Please remember that while our staff are in class or dealing with other matters, they may not be available to answer your questions immediately.
Our schools and communities will make sure that written communication is appropriate, fair and easy to read. We encourage you to use email and social media appropriately to connect with your school and stay up-to-date with events in the school community.
Our guide for parents, carers and students provides useful information about the complaints process.
In all workplaces, people have the right to feel respected. Unacceptable and offensive behaviour has no place in our school communities.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and the community in our schools, steps will be taken to address unacceptable behaviour. This may include restricting contact with the school community or, in more serious cases, referral to NSW Police.
Unacceptable behaviour may include but is not limited to:
Aggressive or intimidating actions, such as violence, threatening gestures or physical proximity.
Aggressive or intimidating language, including the use of obscenities, making sexist, racist or derogatory comments, or using a rude tone.
Treating members of the school community differently due to aspects such as their religion or disability.
Inappropriate and time wasting communication.
Change in break times
We are excited to announce a trial of new break times at our school, based on the feedback we’ve received from students and staff. Our aim is to create a more enjoyable and balanced school day that meets the needs of our students.
New Break Schedule:
First Break:
Play Time: 11:00 am – 11:30 am (30 minutes)
Eating Time: 11:30 am – 11:45 am (15 minutes)
Second Break:
Eating Time: 1:15 pm - 1:25 pm (10 mins)
Play Time: 1:25 pm – 1:45 pm (20 minutes)
This updated schedule provides students with the opportunity to enjoy their meals during both breaks, allowing for greater flexibility in their routines.
Students are welcome to eat their lunch or recess during either break. However, please remember that lunch orders will still be delivered at 1:15 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
We believe these changes will positively impact our students' experience at school. We encourage everyone to share their thoughts during this trial period, as your feedback is crucial in helping us assess the effectiveness of these new break times. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to enhance our school environment!
We will evaluate the change in break times at the end of Term 2.
Small Group Tuition Program
The NSW Government has funded Small Group Tuition as a permanent, evidence informed literacy and numeracy program. This program provides targeted, short-term support for students Needing Additional Support (NAS), identified through NAPLAN, departmental and school-based assessments. It is implemented in all NSW public schools, ensuring equitable access for all students.
At our school, the executive team has been collaborating to use this funding effectively. We are refining our plan, recruiting and training staff and identifying students who will benefit most, with a continued focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes.
For more information about the program, visit the Small Group Tuition website, contact the school.
Digital Device Policy
Teachers use a variety of digital devices and online services to enhance the learning of students. These include desk-top computers, Chromebooks and iPads. The students are restricted to using the devices in class time under teacher supervision.
Students may not bring a mobile device to school (including laptops, tablets, wearable technology, such as smartwatches and headphones). If bought to school, the device must be stored in the office, and be collected at the end of the day.
Mobile devices are not to be taken on excursions or extra-curricular activities.

School cross country is an exciting and challenging event that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and school spirit among students. Recently, our school cross country took place in Yarrawonga on the beautiful grounds of Yarrawonga Yacht Club. Despite a little rain on the days before, the track held up well, with only a few puddles to navigate. Mulwala students raced along a scenic course around Chinamans Island. Our students displayed wonderful sportsmanship and encouragement throughout the day, creating a supportive atmosphere that made the event memorable. Special thanks go to the parents, teachers, and volunteers who manned the checkpoints, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the event.
Congratulations to the cross country age champions.
