It integrates digital technologies to enhance problem-solving and collaboration skills
Provides opportunities for students to apply, communicate, and showcase their mathematical learning
Encourages critical thinking, creativity, perseverance, and a growth mindset through complex, open-ended problems
Supports academic excellence by fostering higher-order thinking and effective communication of advanced concepts
Aims to connect like-minded students and nurture their passion for mathematics
Prime Minister's Spelling Bee
We are delighted to share that Poppy, Jakob and Amelia are participating in the upcoming Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee on Wednesday. This national competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their spelling skills, build confidence, and engage in a rewarding learning experience. We wish the students the very best of luck in the Spelling Bee.
Finley Zone Athletics carnival
We have 15 talented students who will proudly represent our school at the Finley Zone Athletics Carnival this Friday. It's wonderful to see so many young athletes eager to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. The Riverina athletics carnival will be held on Friday 5 September.
Check-in Assessments
Students in Years 3 to 6 will participate in the Check-In Assessments during Week 6. This will involve a reading and numeracy assessment. For our Year 6 students it will also include a writing assessment. The purpose of these assessments is to help us understand each student’s progress in key areas and identify where additional support might be beneficial. By taking part, students contribute to creating a learning environment tailored to their individual needs, helping us support their growth and celebrate their achievements.
Year 1 Phonics Reading Check,
Year 1 students will be participating in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check during Week 6. This short assessment helps us understand how well your child is developing their phonics skills, which are essential for reading.
The results allow our teachers to provide the right support to help every child become a confident and successful reader.

'Thanks for the shout out in Public Education Week Mulwala Public School!
I’m a very proud product of public education in every way possible.
I went to Mulwala PS, Tumut Public School, Tumut High School and Albury High School. My parents were public school teachers too 😊
Knowing the power of public education also drove me into politics - the fight for Medowie’s public high school started it all.
So I can confidently say, public education shapes lives, ignites potential and builds a fairer future.
Thank you to all of our hardworking, dedicated school teachers, principals and staff who make a difference every single day 🙏🏼💕'
Last week the students particpated in National Science Week to spark curiosity and fascination about the world around us.
Last week, we proudly joined schools across the country in National Week of Action Against Bullying and Violence. It’s a special time to come together as a community to promote kindness, respect, and inclusion for everyone.
This year’s theme from Bullying. No Way! is “Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.” It reminds us all that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in creating safe and welcoming environments where bullying is not tolerated.
We encourage everyone to be an upstander, not a bystander—to stand up and speak out against bullying whenever they see it. Supporting each other and taking action helps create a positive and safe space for all students.
If you or your child needs support, Kids Helpline is available 24/7. You can contact them on 1800 55 1800 for confidential advice and help.
Together, let’s build a kinder, safer community for all!
We had a wonderful time celebrating our annual Teddy Bears' Picnic as part of National Week of Action Against Bullying and Violence! Our students brought their beloved teddy bears to school to share the important message of kindness and friendship. The teddies joined in with class activities and enjoyed a lovely lunch together at the park. We were delighted to welcome our friends from Mulwala Pre-School, who joined us for lunch and some fun playtime. It was a joyful day filled with laughter, learning, and community spirit as we all came together to promote kindness and respect.
This year, the theme for Book Week is “Reading is My Secret Power,” and the students engaged in exciting activities centred around the Children’s Book Council short-listed books. From storytelling sessions to creative workshops, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The students came to school dressed as their favourite book character. Thank you again to the Mulwala Pre School for joining us.
A big thank you to the P&C for once again donating every child a bag of books and fostering their love of reading. Reading by the Lake is oe of the students' favourite days.
We proudly acknowledge our students who uphold our Jarmbie value of being active citizens. Their enthusiastic participation in community events not only enhances their personal growth but also strengthens our local community. From volunteering at local charities to engaging in sporting activities, our students are making a meaningful impact.
