COVID 19 Advice
Students and staff should stay home when sick. Students, staff and visitors should only attend school when feeling well and symptom-free. Follow NSW Health advice on Testing and what to do if you have COVID-19
Parents and carers of children with persistent or ongoing COVID-19 symptom should discuss these with their local health care professional. These symptoms may be related to other illnesses (such as allergies or hay fever) and benefit from treatment and management by a doctor.
From the start of 2024, rapid antigen tests (RAT) are no longer available free of charge to schools. NSW Health recommend Testing for COVID-19 if you have symptoms and are at higher risk of serious illness.
Communication with parents
As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. We know that you play a crucial role in helping your child become a motivated learner. Communication between our school and our community is critical for us to partner together.
To give our teachers the opportunity to recharge, spend time with their families and bring their best creative selves to work, we are setting clear expectations for when and how they respond to communication outside school operating hours. This means teachers may not reply to non-emergency messages or emails outside of school operating hours.
Please use the school’s email address for non-emergencies in the first instance or the Class Dojo app. Our staff will respond to your queries within 2 school days under normal circumstances.
For longer discussions or complex matters, we ask parents and carers to make an appointment to speak to teachers directly, at a time that works best for everyone.
For emergencies, please contact the school office or Principal via Class Dojo
Tel: 03 57443462
Email: mulwala-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
Emergencies include serious student health, safety and wellbeing issues.
Our staff will always stay in touch because open communication is what’s best for your child and their education. We don't want you to stop communicating with your teachers – we still want to hear from you if you have any questions or need to discuss a matter about your child. We know it’s often easier to send emails or messages after work. We will make sure we read and respond in school operating hours (8am - 4 pm)
Our dedicated teachers want to help our students achieve their best – we’re on the same team.
Thank you for treating our staff with kindness and respect.

Last Friday we had Walk Safely to School Day. There were three groups, one with Mrs Rosmulder, one with Miss Sargeant and one with Mrs Barr. Students were able to walk from different parts of Mulwala.
Once we got to school we had a delicious breakfast of pancakes and fruit cooked by our P & C.
There was also Police Officer Ally telling us how to be safe when crossing the road. Students who walked to school were also given tattoos.
A BIG thankyou to Mrs Barr and the P&C for organising the Walk Safely to School Day and a yummy breakfast. We all made it to school safely. We had lots of fun.

On Monday 13 May, K-2 students were lucky enough to head to Oaklands to watch an ALPHASHOW production of 'Cinderella'. It was a wonderful day out and students really enjoyed the performance - it was the first time leaving the school for an excursion for some of our younger students and their behaviour was exceptional!
Highlights:
Eli: "I liked the prince because he got to marry Cinderella the princess and he had a sword fight."
Yesterday the students enjoyed participating in the athletics carnivals in the sunshine. There was wonderful participation and sportsmanship.
The results will be shared as soon as they have been finalised.
The Kinder and Year 1 students have been learning about beat in muisc. They have learnt to identify the tempo of the beat and whether it is fast or slow. They enjoy dancing to the bear of DJ Raphie music.
Assemblies are held at school on alternate Fridays commencing at 2 pm. All students have a turn of presenting class reports, sharing learning and presenting the assembly. Everyone is invited to attend.
The SRC have commenced a number of initiatives this term.
Lunch orders are available from Sweet and Sour Sisters Tuesday-Thursday.
