Term dates for 2025
I am pleased to inform you that we have received approval to align our school holidays with those of Victoria, starting in 2025. This decision was made to better support our families who have children attending schools across the border and who participate in extracurricular activities during the Victorian school holidays.
While we are excited about this alignment, I want to let you know that the exact starting dates for each term are still being determined. The differences in the number of teaching days between New South Wales and Victoria mean that we need to ensure we are meeting all mandated requirements for our students. We will finalise term dates as soon as possible, and we will communicate those to you as soon as they are available.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we make this transition. We believe that aligning our holiday schedule with Victoria will provide greater flexibility for our families and enhance the overall school experience for our students.
Swimming carnival
The 2025 school swimming carnival will be held on Friday 7 Februrary at the Yarrawonga pool. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be involved in the carnival. Details will be sent out at the beginning of Term 1.
School Behaviour and management Plan
We are pleased to share with you our new School Behaviour Support and Management Plan at Mulwala Public School, designed to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. Our school is dedicated to explicitly teaching and modelling positive behaviour, ensuring that every student is engaged and supported in their learning journey.
Key programs that we are prioritising and valuing in our school community include:
Mulwala Public School’s Jarmbie Values and Jarmbie Time
Zones of Regulation
How Big is the Problem?
Friends Resilience Programs - NSW Health
Kids Helpline
These initiatives focus on social and emotional learning, aiming to enhance mental health, foster positive relationships, and prevent bullying. We are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning community that promotes student wellbeing.
Our dedicated staff will implement evidence-based approaches and strategies to create a positive climate where bullying is less likely to occur. We believe that building a welcoming school culture that values diversity and nurtures positive relationships is crucial for all members of our community.
The plan can be viewed here.
COVID 19 Advice
Students and staff should stay home when sick. Students, staff and visitors should only attend school when feeling well and symptom-free. Follow NSW Health advice on Testing and what to do if you have COVID-19
Parents and carers of children with persistent or ongoing COVID-19 symptom should discuss these with their local health care professional. These symptoms may be related to other illnesses (such as allergies or hay fever) and benefit from treatment and management by a doctor.
From the start of 2024, rapid antigen tests (RAT) are no longer available free of charge to schools. NSW Health recommend Testing for COVID-19 if you have symptoms and are at higher risk of serious illness.

Nevaeh travelled to Sydney to participate in four concerts as part of the massed choir at the Schools Spectacular, demonstrating her vocal prowess alongside fellow talented students from across the state. Her dedication to the art of singing truly shone through during these performances.
In a remarkable display of inclusivity and talent, Nevaeh, Zali and Harper performed in the State Auslan Choir at Elevate the Stage. The trio had the honour of accompanying renowned musician Iva Davies as he sang his iconic song Great Southern Land. Their heartfelt performance, which beautifully integrated Auslan signing, captivated the audience and highlighted the importance of representation in the arts.
Students from year 3 -6 participated in Get Hooked on Fishing at the Mulwala Foreshore. Its a day enjoyed by all students as they get to try out their fishing skills and learn new ones as well as the six codes of fun fishing.
Get Hooked... It’s Fun to Fish comprises six teaching modules which form a Junior Fishing Code. Each code is based on principles from the National Fishing Code of Practice by RecFish Australia.
Code 1 ‘Take only what you need’
Code 2 ‘Fish with friends’
Code 3 ‘You’re the solution to water pollution’
Code 4 ‘Throw the little ones back’
Code 5 ‘Don’t leave your tackle behind’
Code 6 ‘Quality catchments equal quality fish’
A big thank you to our incredible school captains, Neavaeh and Zali and vice captains, Nancy and Scarlett for their hard work volunteering with Meals on Wheels at Yarrawonga District Hospital!
