Parent-teacher interviews
Parents are invited to contact the class teacher at any time during the year to organise a parent-teacher interview. In addiiton, teachers may contact parents and request an interview. Your child is invited to attend any interview to share their learning with you.
Attendance
As we head into the end of term 2 it remains important that your child attends school every single day. Being at school is the best place for students to learn as well as to keep social connections and build life-long skills.
We understand that families are eager to see and reconnect with loved ones and take a well-deserved break, but please remember that planned travel should only be taken during scheduled school holidays. If you family is planning to travel within a school term complete the MPS Application for extended leave - travel on SchoolBytes.
Students should be at school every day during school terms, including until the end of term, unless they are sick or are absent for a justified reason.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child's learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week, that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
We want to do everything we can to help all students be at school every single day, because every day counts. If you have any concerns or questions please talk to me, the front office staff or your class teacher. Covid Guidelines
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we are still continuing our COVID-smart measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses such as the flu in our school community.
Our COVID-smart measures
While the community continues to live with COVID-19, NSW Health has advised that the unpredictable nature of the virus will continue to present a health risk to the community, especially during the winter months while other respiratory illness circulate. As a response, our school will continue to operate with our baseline COVID-smart measures in place throughout this term to minimise transmission while prioritising student and staff wellbeing. These includes a combination of layered safety measures such as:
Staying home if unwell and test for COVID-19 if showing any symptoms
. Students and staff are advised to stay home until they are well, even if they have a negative COVID-19 test result. Students can be supported to learn remotely if they are well enough.
Boosted day cleaning of high-touch areas in our schools.
Strongly encouraging masks to be worn by all students, staff and visitors, particularly when indoors or outdoors when physical distancing is difficult to maintain, and if exposed to COVID-1
Strongly encouraging up-to-date vaccinations for our students and staff, including COVID-19 booster shots and flu vaccinations for anyone eligible.
Maintaining natural ventilation with windows and doors open whenever possible, including when cooling/heating systems are in use.
Continuing to provide RATs and other hygiene products to our school community, free of charge.
Our school may be directed to temporarily reintroduce additional COVID-19 measures, including mandatory mask-wearing and postponing events and gatherings, or directing a cohort to learn from home for a short period to minimise transmission risks. The NSW Department of Education’s COVID-19 Health, Safety and Staff Wellbeing team will continue to lead this work when it is needed.
For further information about the COVID-smart measures in place this term refer to the department’s COVID-smart measures at school on our Advice for families page
I would also like to take this opportunity to share Fire and Rescue NSW’s Winter fire safety checklist (PDF 864.8KB). Please download the checklist and follow the instructions listed to help keep our households safe and warm during the colder months.
On behalf of our school, I want to thank you for your support in helping to keep our students, staff and community safe.

On Thursday the 8th of June Tommy, Natalie, Xavier and Zain went to Howlong for the Multicultural Public Speaking competition. We had to present our prepared speech. Then after the prepared speeches we had a break and enjoyed some morning tea. After the break we had to prepare an impromptu speech that had to go for two minutes. The topic was cutting corners. We did very well and it was very hard but fun. We managed to do it and we only had five minutes and it was very hard but in the end there were people who did amazing jobs and tried their best but there is only one winner. The person who is going to represent the area in the next round is Thomas Hargreaves from our own school MPS.

On Thursday the 15th of June Scarlett and Charlie represented Mulwala Public School at Gundagai. They had a great day. It was muddy to start with on the track but then the sun came out. Charlie came 41st and Scarlett came 9th. They both did very well.
From Scarlett
On Tuesday the 6th of May an author came to visit our school.
Her name was Lucinda Gifford. She has written lots of different books like Chicken Divas, The Cat Wants Cuddles, The Cat Wants Custard and many more. While we were there some of the students from all the different classrooms gave Lucinda some animals and she combined them to make a new animal. After she had showed us we got to go off and make our own animal. They were all really funny. Mine was a dog ,fish and elephant. She brought a few of her books that had she sketched. It was really cool. At the end of the time she gave us one of her new books called Hair
