Overview
Introduce the student led conference model to the participants. The goal of a student led conference is to allow students to the opportunity to voice their own goals and progress.
An inventory of students' own goals and target areas should be offered and a mock conference should be completed to demonstrate the process.
The goals of a student led conference typically are to monitor progress toward goals (social, behavioral, or academic).
Conferences can occur as frequently as needed and with as many students that would benefit from the accountability and ownership it supports.
Model expectations of conference
Student must present a representation of their progress.
Student must reflect on grows and grows.
Next steps should be discussed.
Adults may help implement strategies for improvement for goals of following checkpoint.

Proactive Implementation
Establishing and practicing student led conferences throughout the year sets the expectation of ownership on each of the students. This systems provides a framework for any future interactions where a student must determine their own path forward (behaviorally, academically, or socially).
Responsive Implementation
Responsivley implementing student led conferences may stem from a need to promote further self advocacy, voice, or ownership from students. This should be practiced on a smaller scale as with an project before expanding the process.
Connection
If the need is connection then the student may bring their families into the conference to show unity and connection between school and home.
Skills Training
If the need is skill building then some of the criteria given for the format of discussion during the student led conference should be outlined with the skills being targeted.
Awareness
If the need is awareness then the student may hear from the other participants on the impact certain actions (positive or negative) have on the classroom community or home.
