Overview
Individual student or class of students recite a created mantra for themselves or co-created and recited as a classroom.
This could be class values or a positive self image poem.
If individual this should be done privately.
A student may say this in response to Automatic Negative Thoughts or when in need of affirmation.
Core Components
Must have meaning for the student
Must be used consistently
Clear opportunities to use both proactively and responsively are shown to student(s)
Proactive Implementation
Proactively establishing a mantra may look like having the entire class learn a consistent mantra to use each and every day. The mantra may be recited at the beginning of each day and then used as needed.
Responsive Implementation
Responsively implementing a mantra may look like teaching a student, group, or class the mantra that is specific to targeted behaviors and initiating the process when they are in need of regualtion.
Connection
If the need is connection then the mantra may be communal and created together as a class.
Skills Training
If the need is skill building then the student may be prompted to recite the mantra at specifically challenging times.
Awareness
If the need is awareness then the student may be asked to complete a reflection of how they are feeling. Possibly using the zones of regualtion.
