Using climate & temperature...
Allows for optimum learning environments
Creates thermal comfort
Satisfies the reptile brain
Overview
Set the temperature of your room to 68-73 degrees.
This allows optimum learning to occur.
This may be done through air conditioning, HVAC, or use of windows, lighting, and fans.
Core Components
Consistent monitoring and use of tools to consciously create a comfortable environment
Proactive Implementation
Setting the room temperature between 68-73 degrees and sharing with students why the temperature matters from the start of the year is the poroactive routine.
Responsive Implementation
Responsively implementing the ideal room temperature means discussing with students why temperature matters and seeking their input on how this may have impacted their classroom environment.
Connection
If the need is connection then the students may discuss in groups the impact of different aspects of the classroom enviornemnt factor into their learning.
Skills Training
If the need is skill building then the student may select a certain period of the day that is an area of focus to change the temperature.
Awareness
If the need is awareness then the students should log, journal, or process with someone possible their CICO mentor about the feelings they have using room temperature.
Emotional Regulation
If the need is regulation then the student may be asked to change the temperature and have the freedom to request a change in temperature when they are feeling dysregulation.
