Overview
Give every new student a welcome back-pack that includes a copy of the mantra and school mission, a letter written by current students describing what it is like to go to the go to the school, a letter from the teachers and staff expressing their excitement to work with the new student, information on the area and important resources, parent and community connection opportunities, and ,, possibly, a T-shirt or another time printed with the school name and mantra.

Proactive Implementation
Setting up and building welcome bags for new students help increase a sense of belonging from start.
Responsive Implementation
Responsively implementing welcome bags may stem from data showing a disconnection between new students/families and the school.
Connection
If the need is connection then the welcome bag items should be things that directly make the student feel connected.
Skills Training
If the need is skill building then a team of students may create and put together the bags to give to new students.
Awareness
If the need is awareness then the students may go through each of the items and share the meaning behind each with the new student.
Emotional Regulation
If the need is regulation then the student may receive items that support trialing different regualtion skills such as a laminated lazy eight breathing track.
