Useful Text Editors

Introduction

Here are some text editors and other editors (for editing HTML, etc.) I have found useful. See also: Text Editor Settings, Programs, Operating Systems, Software.

Text Editors and Other Editors

I use text editors for editing text-only memos, but also for editing for example HTML, C++, Java, and assembly. In Windows I prefer Notepad, SuperEdi and TED Notepad, but there are others, such as Editeur, EditPad Lite, NoteTab Light and Programmer's File Editor. In Unix and Linux I prefer emacs as I'm used to it, but I do know other editors exist, such as jed, joe, nano, pico, XEmacs, xjed, and vi. In OS X I prefer TextWrangler with text files and Aquamacs with program source codes. 1st Page 2000 is an HTML editor. XMLwriter is an XML editor. Sublime Text version 2 is free to evaluate.
