Mobile Sticks

Introduction

Here are some mobile sticks (mobile USB modems) I have used. See also: Mobile Stick Settings, Network Devices, Internet Service Provider Settings, Phone Service Provider Settings.

Huawei E1820

Features: GPRS (GSM/GPRS/EDGE). UMTS (WCDMA/HSDPA). HSDPA.

ISP/service: Saunalahti Mobiililaajakaista.

Huawei E3372 (Tele Finland Netti, E3372s)

This isn't my mobile stick, but here is how I made it work with Ubuntu 12.

- create a new folder to your computer, for example create HiLink inside Home directory

- copy the files from the USB mobile stick for example to Home/HiLink

- from Administrator Settings: Main Menu enable Administrator Terminal under Utilities (loosely from Finnish: Apuohjelmat)

- from Utilities start Administrator Terminal (loosely from Finnish: Ylläpitopääte)

- on the new location make install_linux executable: chmod +x install_linux

- start the installation: ./install_linux

Features: GPRS (GSM/GPRS/EDGE). UMTS. HSDPA.

Software: GlobeTrotter Connect.

ISP/service: Sonera Liikkuva Laajakaista.
