Battery Test

Introduction: after years of use, I wanted to know how long I can keep the laptop turned on in the worst case scenario with the old original laptop battery.

How the test was taken: the laptop played YouTube videos non-stop until the sleep mode was forced. The screen brightness was at full and energy saving settings did not let the computer turn off the display or the hard disk.

Test taken: 8/2018.

Time playing videos until sleep mode was forced: 1 h 39 min.

Laptop settings in general:

- screen brightness: full

- keyboard brightness: off

- sounds: off

- Bluetooth: off

- Wi-Fi: used for the Internet connection

MacOS Energy Saver settings:

- Computer sleep: Never

- Display sleep: Never

- Automatic graphics switching: off

- Put hard disks to sleep when possible: off

YouTube:

- browser: Google Chrome

- resolution for the played YouTube videos approximately: 720p

- Autoplay: on

- Full screen setting on YouTube (not browser's setting)

- skip advertisements with a trackpad click

Interesting results:

- MacBook Pro's metal surface was hot near the function keys F3 ... F5

- MacBook Pro's metal surface was clearly warm to the left of the trackpad

- MacBook Pro's metal surface was a little bit warm to the right of the trackpad
