Introduction
Here are some networking applications I have found useful. See also: Networking Application Settings, Programs, Software.
Networking Applications
nmap can be used to test your firewall (you need another computer to scan the other one). pathping, ping, Ping Plotter Freeware and tracert can be used to figure out if there is something wrong with the Internet connection or with an online service. TweakMaster may speed up your connection by changing your computer's settings.
Network Utility (OS X 10.9, 10.10)
nmap (OS X: sudo nmap -v -v -O -sV -P0 [IP address])
tracert (OS X: traceroute -n -S -q 10 [IP address])
