decay Artist's Statement:
It started when I was first taking the reference photo for this piece. Previously I had just ignored it, but when I was actually looking at all the school hallways from an artist's perspective, I realized how ugly they all were. I then started thinking about what would make the hallway more interesting.
I used first graphite pencil to make the initial lines, and then went over them and drew the actual creative element with black gel pen. This wall all done on printmaking paper.
At first I was thinking of drawing eyes on all the walls and ceiling, but then I decided to go for a more natural look, of things slowly getting overgrown and decaying. I used the internet to look up old walls, and based my drawing off of that.
