Selective Color

Artist's Statement:

This project focused on making selective color photos. The assignment was to make five selective color photos, where the color was also somehow related to the subject. The photos also had to be portraits.

 To make these photos we used photoshop, usuing the select tool to isolate the colors that we wanted to keep, and turning the rest black and white. I chose to use photos where I thought that the color would be interesting, and bright enough. I wanted to have the colors compliment the sujects, and add to the overall composition of the photos.

One of my favorite parts was the satisfaction of making the photographs, and seeing everything turn into black and white except for the selected colors. I really enjoyed the attention to detail it took to chose the right colors, and choose photos that had colors in a good composition. I did run into some trouble at first because I forgot to change the resolution, but I later fixed that by putting the final photos back into photoshop and then changing the resolution.
