Artist's Statement:
The idea for this project was to create something that shows a clean energy alternative. I had the idea to use wind turbines, because I was in the netherlands this past summer, and I like the landscape with the wind mills. I wanted to make a poster to inspire the future to use clean energy. I chose to make the image upright for this reason. I also wanted to give a sense of fulfillment that came with this, so I had the farmer in the foreground looking pleased at the land.
I thought that since I was going to do the project on something electric, it would fit to have the art digital to connect to that, since digital media uses electricity. I chose to use a green to red fading palette, because I wanted to give the sense of the end of a days hard work. In the end I had to make some colors that were not on the original palette, like the dark blueish greens, and the darker reds and purple. I chose not to have lines in the work as well, because I wanted it to look really clean and precise.
My process started out with brainstorming and research. I started out with two sketches of possible designs that I could use for the poster. one I ended up using, but changing a little. The other I abandoned. I also did research on windmills, and how they provided a cleaner version of energy that existing ones. I also looked up the possible cons of windmills, which are negligible.
