Where do you want to live?

Artist's Statement:

This piece has a particular emotional connection for me. I made it with my grandmother, in her studio, and she helped me a lot in discovering abstract art, and how to do that on such a large scale. Her studio in located in Amsterdam, a city that for me has always represented a particular sect of the art world that is close to home for me. When I looked  at this piece with fresh eyes, after I was done painting it, I realized that it immediately resembled my vision of what Amsterdam looks like. The city has a kind of rigidity and fluidity that I think was reflected in this artwork. when I realized the subject, I knew the title that  I needed to give this piece. I've always wanted to live in a city.
