Sustained Investigation #15

Artist's Statement:

The idea for this project was to use multiple animals with humans, in a kind of composite animals, but not quite. I had the idea to have the humans and the animals be kind of their own counterparts. I wanted it to look like the start or end of a story, that they were setting out or ending an adventure. I used the lighting and contrast to do this.

I wanted to use digital media because I associate it with animations and movies. I always thinks that an animated movie is the best kind of story, so I wanted the characters to seem like they could be part of a animation. I also read a lot of webcomics, which are done digitally, so I associated digital media with stories.

I wanted to made the humans and animals seem like they were connected, like part of them formed the animal and the animal formed part of them. this is why I put them in similar poses, and made their colors be similar. I was partially inspired by the idea of animals as their souls, like in the Golden Compass.
