Reflection on Foundations of Art:

I learned a lot in Foundations of art, especially focusing on different materials and techniques. There was a lot of experimenting in Foundations, which I really enjoyed because I think that experimenting is one of the best ways to learn anything, but especially art. I think that my work illustrates some of the difficulties I have with perfectionism and obsessiveness. Very often I would have trouble because I overloaded myself, resulting in a lot of stress. I made a serious effort to turn everything in on time, but sometimes it was very hard.

I think that my work shows a lot of improvement, especially with different materials and developing my own style. One of my most challenging projects was my Negative Space leaves, because I put a lot of detail into it, but it paid off! I think that I really developed something unique by using negative space and filling it with animals. I based my final project on this idea, because I think that it really exhibits my own voice. these projects are also some of the ones I am most proud of, because of the sheer dedication and time they took.

My goals for the summer are to continue to fill my notebook with art that I am proud of, because so far a lot of my favorite self-generated pieces are in there. I really hope to continue art in the future, and hope that this class will help me in pursuing art further. I am looking forward to next year in art class!
