Artist's Statement:
This project was designed to use the Pinch Technique. We were required to use 5 or more pinch "pots" to build a form. In my sketch, you can see how I planned out the "pots".

I chose to do an animal because I hadn't done something like that before, so I wanted to try it out. My bear started out as a bear, and when I still hadn't done the head yet I thought it might become a horse, but it turned out to be a bear alright.

One thing I would have done different is been more careful of the underglaze, so as not to smudge it. I really liked how the final glazed project turned out, the lines got darker, and the general look was more finished.

I used the colbalt blue underglaze pencil to make designs on my bear. I specifically drew the Ursa Major constellation, and then designs that I thought would suit a polar bear.

the underglaze got darker with the clear glaze, making the designs more stark and clean.
